So I accidentally broke my antenna cable about 2 inches from the reciever board. What I'd like to do is just solder a small chunk of wire to the board, and then to what is the rest of my antenna (wrapped up really nicely in heat shrink, straws, and fuel line :hehe:). Just wondering if I am safe to do this, and if I have to use a specific cable or any sized copper wire that will fit. Traxxas TQ3 system if that matters.

**Also just ordered a Futaba 3PKS system so this will be like a one week fix while it is in shipping** :whhooo:

If you have the rest of the wire that broke off, just twist the ends together and tape it and you should be good. If not and you don't have a failsafe I would wait until your new radio gets there.

I'm pretty sure there is a specific gauge wire for the receiver wire. I know your LHS may sell the wire by itself. Give them a call and find out. You can also buy it online.

I would recommend soldering the wire back together if you still have the piece that broke off, then put a piece of shrink wrap over it, other wise I would get some wire that is like the wire that broke, most hobby shops will carry it. the biggest thing is making sure that the over all length of the wire remains as close as possible to what it was before it broke because the radio and receiver are tuned to that specific length of wire.
