RC Driving Style
Finally got started on breaking my engine in, ran it for about 5 mins before the wheel started to wobble, went to tighten the nut and the wheel came off in my hand complete with stub shaft and nut, it looks like there has been no retaining pin/bolt fitted at the factory, taking it back to LHS tomorrow, will give update on how i get on. :argue:

Any RTR you should go check the screws and simple known problems known to that ride. Research!!! You just may have had the pin there but the nut wasn't secured.. my guess though. Let us know what happens.

wheel problem

I did do all the normal stuff e.g check the wheel nuts, give them a tug, but to check the pin that should have been there, (thats not there pt no#5453 on the axle drive shaft assembly) I would have had to remove the wheel, then the wheel bearing, disconnect the tie bars and remove the wheel hub.
I dont think any amount of RESEARCH would have informed me to carry this out as a pre-use check

I do myself as my tmaxx had a loose ez start. Regardless, I build my rc's now, that is the fun part of it for me.

I enjoy tinkering about with my r/c's too, but i was a little miffed that the pin had not been fitted in the factory, looking forward to sorting this problem tomorrow, my ez start has a loose pin and keeps getting pushed up in to housing when I try and start my revo, i will let you know what happens tomorrow.

With the luck you have been having it almost sounds like British Leyland built your rig!

Traxxas support has been phenomenol for their products so I am sure your issues will work out.

Woaw!! dont diss the leyland man they had some really good cars, well, one half decent car maybe, if you looked at it at a funny angle and squinted.
I have got my revo back all nicely repaired by my LHS and got a couple of glo plugs thrown in for my trouble.

Well, ok, you are right, the Triumph Stag was a pretty good car.

I prefer a Morgan 8, though!

Sounds like you have a real cool LHS near you! Have fun.

The Revo's have been having issues with their wheel nuts, as I own two(purchased NIB) that I've had to constantly keep tightening. I even went to the Max aluminum hub and all new locknuts and still have problems. My friend bought his the same exact day as I did and he has had the same problem too. I bought a NIB Savage two weeks ago and haven't had any issues with wheel nuts on it, just blew out the front diff, that's all!
FYI, As former millitary, I AWAYS perform a PMCS prior to and after usage.

Whoops! Double post!

RIGHT for the last and final time it was not the wheel nuts that were loose, it was the fact that the RETAINING PIN that holds the stubb shaft that the wheel is mounted on to the drive shaft had not been fitted at the factory.
The wheel nuts are not loose because I always thread lock them and check there tight.
FYI, As serving military I always carry out a pre use check of the truck, but to pre use check it to the extent to find that problem would leave no time to use it.

Van,
I agree with you. I was just posting this so others would be on the lookout for this issue as well. Your situation sounds like it left the factory that way and I concur with you.

SGT,
Sorry if i seemed a bit off, its just that when ever i tried to tell any body about the situation i just got told you should have tightened the wheel nuts.
