i recently bought a mmgt and have been running the rx battery block w/ 4 duracell rechargables, it seems to be kinda lagging. After looking at the rechargables they are 1.2 volt 2650ma aa where the regular duracells are 1.5v, should or can i get rid of the battery block and solder 5 of the rechargables into a battery pack making it 6v, is this dangrous to my truck or are there any potential problems I'm not seeing as of now? thx for your time

You can make your own out of AA's. However, the 2/3A cells in the packs that are made for RC allow for a higher current flow. Which is good for 1/16-1/18 rigs that run off the pack. For servos and such, rechargeable AA's do just as good with the necessary current flow.

Also, you will need to run 5 cells for NiMH vs 4 cells alkaline. NiMH cells do allow for more power transfer than Alkaline cells. So you still should notice a speed/holding power improvement out of a 5 cell AA NiMH pack vs a 4 cell AA alkaline pack.

I run a homemade pack in my savage and my jato. The one in my aftershock is a typical 1400mah 2/3A cell flat pack just because it fits nice.

Now if your running more than one digital servo, you may want to stick with 2/3A type packs. But for standard servos (and one digital) they seem to get just as much power/speed out of an AA NiMH pack.
