Good morning to all-
I have found my rc plane comfort level with the UMX Eflite series- I like the quick and easy bind process, and the planes fly very well, and they are affordable, so...

I ordered the ME 262 and received it yesterday. After binding- takes about 30 seconds or so, I went down to the flying field and fired her up. Needs a long take off run, but once in the air, this little plane flies well. Very fast, but not particularly aerobatic- slow on rolls and needs room for a loop. But the landing gear on this plane is very robust- and that's a good thing because she comes in hot on landing. A very nice and very different plane from my Eflite biplanes.

Now, for the bad news.

A work crew was out setting boundary lines and aligning up divisions on the flying field. Looks like a housing addition is coming, and my easy, close to home, walkable flying field is soon to be covered with houses. And people. And fences. And overhead power lines. Brothers, this is a very real and painful loss.

I reckon I'd better go aflyin' down the road before it gets covered up with lots of houses.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

Same here. I found a nearby RC plane club one week ago, the people are really nice and I'm loving it. Soon, the area is going to be covered with a huge building project. Five years from now there will be homes for 93k people to live in.
By the time they start building, I'll be studying at a university (hopefully lol) so I'll be away either way

I feel your pain @Edfrombama We had a great flying spot for seven years and then it got developed. We found another spot that wasn't as nice but ok, it lasted two years and then got developed. Now we are flying off of a narrow street in front of a farmers field, but it's just not the same. Has an orchard behind us, power lines, and have to keep an eye out for occasional traffic. Need a better location but they are becoming scarce unless I want to drive an hour away.

Make sure your field of study will get you a job. Period, no nonsense, no fluff, no bs. Fluff wont feed you in the future.

Too much building out there, they need to build in the north west and stay out of the south east.

Join a club in your area. It will be safer, and you will have a good field to fly off of, and meet some nice people.

I know over here, there have been a few fields bought up for development, fortunately most of them have found new land to lease from.

First off, I dont fly planes. I tried once a long time ago and, long story short, my plane went swimming. I've since found drones to be more suitable to me. Mad respect for those of you who do fly them. I love to watch and some of the stuff you guys have posted looks very cool. Just not for me.

When I first started flying drones, I was alone in the endeavor. No one I knew was playing with them. I wasn't on any forums to learn from others. I took the rules and regulations very seriously. I live in the middle of farmland nowhere and one of the FAA rules was that if there were any airports nearby, I was required to inform them when I was flying. The software on the DJI drones I was flying was nice enough to show me all the local airports and I was surprised to learn just how many tiny, unmanned runways there were local to me. The closest one was close enough that I was supposed to let them know. I called and called and left lots of voicemails to no avail. A few months go by and I finally get a call back from the owner of the 'airport' I was calling. He was quite amused at my messages and invited me to come use their field anytime I wanted, as long as no planes were underway. And they rarely are. Even gave me access to the tower. He also told me that most of the little airports in the area are more than happy to allow RC aircraft to use the runways.

I'm not sure if the presence of small runways like this one exist everywhere but if they do, that might be a good option for a flying area for you.

Most of the small airports around here are still fairly busy. Wish we were in a more rural area.
