Angling the fuel tank??

Hi guys. I read an article awhile back in one of the R/C mags. I forget which one. Anyway, this racer dude replaced the chassis on his Savage. It said that one of the benefits of this was that it made the fuel tank sit on an angle. It said it improves fuel pressure and ensures that the engine receives constant fuel throughout the entire run and it doesn't lean out as the fuel becomes lower.
Now, why couldn't you just raise the fuel tank at one end on the Revo to achieve the same thing?:idea:
 
I think the base of the Revo tank is already angled. While not very much it is slightly. Best thing I found for the leaning issue is running a longer pressure line. I've got about 9 inches (insert commets here) for my pressure line and have not had a leaning issue at half tank or less. HTH

Put a fuel filter on your pressureline as well. Regulates the pressure.
 
I'd post a pic of my truck's inner layouts, but I'm lazy and forget to take pictures and post em. The fuel filter achieves basically the same thing as increasing the length of the line so if you have an extra laying around that would work too. I said fuel line cause I have a 50' (insert another comment here!) spool.

I just bit the bullet and got a 50' spool as well... I was tired of buying the damn 3' sections, so i just did it... So far, I'm glad i did. :banana:

That's probably doing the same thing as adding more line. It just gives more displacement between the tank and exhaust to even out the pulses.

Revo, thanks. I'd rather do it the best way, which always involves more money. lol. What if your fuel tank has an in tank filter? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what the one does inside the fuel tank? Ya...cause I think I read a thread where people have both.
What additional or different things should I get once I buy the Revo? Like should I get a peak charger or is the one that comes with it suffice? Also, I have a little extra cash now...so should I get any different servos for it? I heard the steering servos should be upgraded. I don't want to get unnecessary things. I wanna learn to drive it first but I don't want to waste this money on bills. If I dont' spend it on stuff now, it'll slowly dwindle away.

Yes get an inline fuel filter to go between the tank in carb. The Revo tank does have one integrated into it but I always consider a fuel filter cheap insurance! The one Revo was talking about was basically the same I suggested with the longer pressure line by installing it between the pipe and tank. It adds volume to even out the pressure and pulse waves and helps preventing the half tank leaning syndrome. If you have the money to spend right now, definitely get rid of the dual servo setup and get a single good one. I use and highly recommend the JR650M high torque steering servo. WHat you will find too by doing that is longer battery life! The two servo set-up no matter how good you are adjusting it always tends to fight each other and the constant movement of the servo's fighting kills your battery. The JR can be had for about $50USD. I'd recommend something else other than the stock charger too. If you want to spend a little coin right now definitely get a better charger. You can go for something beginner level like a Black Widow or a step up to the Black Widow pro. The widow pro will charge you NiCd's too (for the sleazy start). There's other similar models to those I just had some experience with the Widow Pro. It too costs about $50 USD. If you want to go up from there to a decent intermediate level charger I really like the Duratrax Ice, but it requires a power supply. MRC Super Brains aren't a bad choice either and they come with the power supply. Also check out the Revo resources pages and look for Slayden's tips and mods. 99% free and all are rather simple.
 
Fuel filters are relatively cheap, and so is fuel line. Do the pressure line mod no matter what, and add a second "fuel tank to carb" fuel line filter as well.

The stock charger actually does well. Mine went out after a year. By then I had 4 different chargers, so most likely in a year you will have one too.

For servos, I prefer the Aritronics 357 for throttle and the 358 for steering, but those are about 110 USD. Never used the JR one that Jet mentions. Most likely is a great servo for the price as Jet is the pickiest SOB I know.
