Many of my close friends on the forum have heard me talk about one of my life long friends that had had a turn of bad luck.

X-Mass of 2003 he went into the VA hospital (USAF Ret.) with heart burn and left 5 months later without a kidney, spleen, half his intestines and a couple of other important organs. To top it off, they screwed up the epidural and he is paralyzed from the waist down. From that time he has also had 2 heart surgeries caused by the lack of different organs.

On top of his Dialysis 3 times a week for 5 hours each time, he sent me his schedule for the day so I would know when to make my daily phone call.

Think twice before you say your day is bad or your life sucks.

Here it is.
--------------
Guess you got busy when you got home. Here is my schedule fo the next several Fridays and Tuesdays.

09:00 AM - Must be at Doctors office to have blood drawn and cross typed for a transfusion. After they figure out what my blood is on this day I will be transfused 2 units( 2 pints) of whole blood.

12:00 PM (Noon) I will be at Hyperbarics to do a dive in their tank to 45 feet so my blood can be saturated to 100% oxygen for 1.5 hours. This will help me heal - so they say (And it seems to be working)

3:00 PM I will get out of the chamber and go to the Wound Treatment Center - (Same place actually) My wound will be repacked and the Wound Vac Re-Installed for another 3 days.

These things are new things that I am dealing with this week on my days off from the normal 5 hours in the bat cave. Call me when you can.

I can't talk to you in the chamber (or the hospital) so leave a message please.

Holy poop dude,That blow's,that guy must really have a hard time,If i was in his spot i would probablly die, that must take a lot of hope and praying,I don't know how he does it but i give him thumbs up for being strong.

man that sucks.....did the hospital take those organs out needlessly or they found cancerous tissue in them? and can he do any activities outside? like play w/ some RC cars or anything?

Incredible, your friend has an enormous will to survive. I think most pople would have given up. Makes you realize how precious your life really is.

Count your blessings everyday, I know I do.

now thats a military hospital for you!!!! i hope the best for your friend hospitals suck the big one!!

My dad has a similar story, but it's been going on for 14 years. The past 4 years have really sucked for him. Cancer popping up everywhere and they just cut it out/off. He's had lukemia since 14 years ago and that was found because he had a seizure and ended up in the hospital. The cause of the siezure was an anurism in his brain the size of a golf ball. They gave him 6 months to live 14 years ago...

If it wasn't for the VA, he would be gone as there is no way our family could afford his constant treatments.

He flew those big ass cargo plains, the ones you can fit an entire city into. Several of his flying buddies are going through some bad health poop similar to his. The military denies any responsibility. :(

Probably a C5A. When they go to other countries, they are fumigated when they get back, to eliminate any wierd little bugs that might hitch a ride back.
At altitude, they're stuck in there with whatever chemicals they were fumigated with.
The military also denied any effects from agent orange, and that also affected the NEXT generation.

Of the times you have posted...this one isnt so bad. It would be cool to dive in that tank being that deep..but would be even better under different ciircumstances.

Get well soon

I have a uncle and one of his friends just got back from Iraq and he has cancer..don't know what kind of cancer but they gave him like 3 months to live...sucks to leave ur family in good health and then come back after 2 years of being over and ur gonna die..and he is real young in his early 30's

All i can say is wow..... All these sound so horrible its like watching a movie... It seems like you can't even imagine what they are going through.
