Plane Print sell stl files to print a Sea Gull. It flies well but it it well over 250g, uses quite a big EDF and is quite expensive using 3 different types of print filament.
Using my lightweight Depron build techniques I wondered about a sub 250g version.
A Sea Gull is to all intents and purposes a flying wing as its tail is very close coupled and there is no fin.
I did not fancy going through the development of creating a stable flying wing so I stretched and expanded the tail slightly and and added twin fins.
This is how it ended up.

Built entirely in 2mm Depron it has a 1220mm (48") span. It is powered by a 35mm EDF and weighs 196g with a 450mAh 3s LiPo.
The EDF exhaust under the tail so is hardly visible when in the air.

The EDF inlets required some careful design to be large enough yet not too obvious in what is overall a very streamlined shape.

The eye picture is from a genuine Sea Gull.
Only just about stable but it does fly well enough

Kinda cool actually but my luck, it would migrate along with the seagulls we have around here. :(
I was thinking the owls or hawks around here would have that poor gull pulled apart before it hit the ground. ❤️

It looks like it might be hard to fly without a long tail but I'm no pilot.
This is so cool to watch you take an idea, improve on and make your own 'plane'!
I love these threads! 😁

I agree, imagination should be a huge part of RC and for the most part, it is.

Good afternoon to all- I must confess, this is just about the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. I congratulate the cuilder on doing such a very good job on the planning and fabrication.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed
