am I missing something about steel spur gears?

  1. Bashing
I keep stripping my spur gears. all screws tightened, nothing binding. how will a steel spur gear screw up my transmission or engine if it appears that my spur gear is being flattened? it runs great for about 20 minutes of bashing then plghhhh!!!! stripped gear!!

all bolts are held with loctite. 3.3 engine. all stock components.

am I bashing to hard? my friend hasn't replaced a spur gear in over a year, but now he is not one to jump a 4' skateboard ramp on a gravel driveway! (you wanna talk about some air time!:D). i like to push the T-maxx to the limits of "flying".

if your jumping and stripping spur gears you need to loosen the slipper clutch, if you get a metal spur gear and keep bashing like you do then the primary gear in the tranny will start to strip. i have gone threw 2 primary gears now because i do the same with my tmaxx with a metal spur.

You may want to take off your engine mount completely and inspect it for cracks. The stock pot metal mounts on traxxas rigs leaves a lot to be desired. If your mount is cracked, get a new one.

New Era makes a nice milled one as does GH.

scratch that, i have now gone through 3 of them lol.

i will try loosening the slip clutch.

everything is tightened with loc-tite. new screws, bolts, mounts etc. i have gone over everything.

lets face it....the truck is not built for my crazed driving. if there is a limit on it's abilities i am going to push it! i don't race...I BASH!

what are your thoughts on a roll cage? maybe spending to much time on its roof has something to do wiht it?:hehe::hehe::hehe::hehe:

Looks like you solved your own problem :D You need a better rig for big air IMO.

A good roll cage will help protect the truck and stiffen the chassis some but also make it more of a pain to work on. That seems like a fair trade to me.
