am / fm crystals ?

i have two transmitters both on channel1/brown AM

if i order another crystal what is the difference between AM and FM, will the FM set work in my set?

Only asking as i can only find FM crystals locally.

AM and FM are different wave-lengths. Granted, they share the same exact band/frequency... That's where the compatibilities end.

AM transmitters won't work with an FM crystal, and vice-versa.

Before you order, are you ordering another set of browns, or are you getting another channel?
The reason I ask is because it's always good to keep a different set of crystals available if you want to run with someone but you're on the same channel.

oh bugger, just found some crystals in the boys bedroom.... He had some xmods cars i could have used those.

Not necessarily... Granted, they're probably on the same band (27mhz) and wavelength (AM), but you also have phase-shift. Some radios are negative shift, others are positive shift. Not to mention, you have narrow and wide band frequencies too.

It's best to stick within brands when purchasing crystals.
