I'm sure this questions be asked to death but here i go lol....i bought a set of Du Bro allen drivers from my LHS for $20 and they suck!!!! i stripped the smallest one out on my drive shaft grubs the first night and it wasn't even very tight!!! My sister asked what i want for Christmas so i said some nice allen drivers and she wants to know brand wise and where BUT she doesn't shop online so it would have to be from Lowes or Home depot cuz the du bro is all my lhs has.....suggestions please!!!!!!
 
Craftsman T-handle drivers at Sears or Kobalt drivers from Lowe's. Both are guaranteed forever. I have some of the Kobalt tools, and they're excellent for the price.
 
Ok, so the Kobalts are priced reasonably???
 
Like almost everything else these days, they're made in china, so they're cheap. That doesn't mean they're not quality, since they come with the lifetime guarantee. About a year ago I bought a zip up pouch with all kinds of needle nose, snips, screwdrivers and hex wrenches for about $40. They're all I ever use for my RC wrenching, and I'm very pleased with them. I removed the drivers I don't need, and have some Craftsman, Dynamite, and a few other brands in their place.
 
ok i'll prolly ask for the kobalts then.....you dont always get what you pay for in tools, like power tools for example....i burned up 5 yes 5 dewault saber saws and 3 dewault cordless drills in less that 4 months time and ended up buying a new Ryobi saber and cordless drill wich are still going to this day wich has been over 4 years now and were more than half the price of the Dewaults....
 
and they have a hefty price tag on them too!!!! I'll throw in another tool question, i have a sotering iron that I've had for a long time but its really big and bulky and hard to use, would home depot or lowes have a nice quality smaller one? if so whats a good brand or specs to know?

those do look nice but it would need to be at a store and not online, thats why i mentioned home depot of lowes cuz i dont really know where else that would have them.
 
lol no, i almost always get ripped off going threw them lol....i'll check em out though.
 
Meh, I love my little DeWalt hand drill/screwdriver but it really only gets light use on RC stuff and I'm not using it professionally. It is quite powerful and well designed for a 3.6V unit though. I didn't pay for it though it was a Xmas present 2 years back.

I'm not much help on the hex wrenches as I use Schumachers and they are pretty-much a EU speciality. I use a BluePoint (sold by Snap-On) gas iron but they are rather pricey (it's my dad's, I need to buy my own some time).

Radio Shack carries Weller and they are good hobby irons. Good enough that I built several Heathkit kits with them... Wow, I bet 3/4 of the guys on here have no idea what a Heathkit even is...

Sears Hardware has a 21 piece set of hex tipped bits and a long magnetic L wrench for 10 bucks. They feature a lifetime warranty and at the price, are unbeatable. I bought them and chuck them into my Bosch palm driver for quick use. Check them

+1 on the Kobalt at Lowes. I think I've got the same kit Rolex mentioned,perfect for the r/cs.
I do have and use Bondhus T-handles too, they're a little on the long side.
