Hi everyone i'm new to tmaxxes and rc in general but learn quick about things.. What i'm asking is what do i start with? I have a tmaxx with a 2.5 But i'm wanting to do it on a budget with learning anything and everything about it? but i also want it to be unbreakable? which i know is not going to happen but i figure with good parts and knowledge it can be a good racer....Any input would be greatly appreciated...Terry

Start with RPM arms, shock towers, bulkhead braces and a set of aluminum bulkheads.

Converting to 17mm hexes will greatly increase your tire & wheel options as well.

If you can find a set, the Proline Powerstroke shocks was the best setup I have ever used on a Maxx.

Thanks rob i'll start with that... What about steel gears in the transmission good or bad?

remove the reverse with an FOC or forward only conversion kit. its fairly simple and cheap. That makes the stock transmission somewhat bullet proof

Got the foc kit on the shelf waiting to go in, lol waiting for tmaxx to get here got it in a trade and boy am i got to put it through trial and error...

Mine started out as a classic 2.5. Upgraded to a 2.5R,then a 3.3 now a picco .26 red dot.I've had to install Robinson racing steel foward only trans. gears, steel spur gear,MIP steel center shafts.I tried the Traxxas steel cvd's at the wheels (required changing axle carriers, bearings, and tie-rods)broke a cup second time out;replaced that one with a stock 3.3 axle...good so far.Rpm a-arms,did have alum. bulk heads, use blue loc-tie ONLY in aluminum...(lesson learned).Oh yeah, rear diff. likes to strip the spider gears.I filled mine full of epoxy;maybe a little too permanent for some people, but after 5 new diff. cups i dont care.AS far as being on a budget;good luck!

I agree with everyone i don't think with what i want to do a budget is really an option just sometimes you have to spend a bit for quality and toughness.

what i do is when i brreak stock parts i upgrade to better ones instead of dumping hundreds in a rig right off the bat i bought a starter truck and i am learning about it as i go what is a good upgrage and what isnt and everyone on here has diffrent ideas on what is a good upgrade its all about how you drive and what you want to do with it, some people like to bash and want a durable truck and some people like to shine it up and self queen there rig

It can be shiny and durable/functional, you just have to increase the budget to have both.:)

if your going rpm , get the true track rod rear end conversion have it on my maxx and never looked back i think it sacrifices abit of handling but definatly worth it .
