I finally had the pesos to throw at an Align TRex 700 E DFC HV 3GX
It had to be ordered, so who knows the actual arrival date?

Should be a fun being my very FIRST build and a blast to fly too.
So when it arrives, I'll have much more to happily exclaim.

Any helpful suggestions or of your experienced thoughts are always much appreciated here.

Thanks folks

Chas

Hi wwdragon,
None! Notta...This is my beginning/first, thee Align TRex 700 E DFC HV 3GX with the powerful 750MX 530KV motor, and those whirling 690mm carbon fibre machetes,,,. & my awesome Spektrum DX8...
A crash could seriously hurt someone, much more than just feelings and wallet.
I'll have to wear some fashionable safety goggles for the first few figure eights, eh?

Reality: This is my very first serious helicopter and imagine this, actually my first build,.,
I decided to go large, the opposite other direction than most others. Go big or "git on home". I just couldn't afford the Align TRex 800 Trekker. Same motor essentially though. If money was no object, it would have been a Mikado Logo XXtreme 800.
Yes I will be buying an Align TRex 450 Plus DFC 3GX soon, when ever the computer at Great Hobbies decides to send in the order for four. & I'll probably even seek something slightly smaller, for indoor use, perhaps an Align TRex 100. Presently I'm having a literal blast flying my Parrot AR Drone 2.0. So I'm graduating, from Lieutenant to Captain.

I Don't ever plan on flying this TRex 700E, mybig bird, until After I have some (plenty of) flight training, also I may eventually try to hook up a buddy box with my DX6i and my DX8.
I'll Just be going to have fun, and try not to crash and trash my expensive investments.
May I please ask which sim you are presently using?
How do you like flying the Blade mCPX? The Align TRex 450? Which TRex 450 kit do you have now.

Thanks so much, I honestly really appreciate your input/output too...
Input is positive, output is negative to me, but if shared with the purpose of being helpful, it's all welcome.

I am mainly using Pheonix, great sim and will teach a lot in hovering and nose in. The mCPX you gotta love it, I have hit just about everything in the house and have yet to break anything hehehe, yes I got the Align Trex 450, crashes on it hurt, mainshaft, feathering shaft, blades, but that is nothing like a 700, just your blades cost about as much as 1 crash of mine.

Too bad your in Edmonton, if you ever visit Montreal we have to go flying together :)

RealFlight has always been my sim of choice. It's not a video game but a flight simulator. I find that it's actually easier to fly the real thing than it is to fly the same setup on the sim.
No computer screen or flat screen TV can ever replace the full 3-D of the human eyes.
In the real world, get used to hovering at least 4' up to avoid the ground effects you don't get in the sim.

So you're doing a 700 for your first heli? :whhooo: Wow, I wish and the bank account the best of luck my friend. I highly recommend as others have, a good sim, and also a much cheaper beater heli to learn on before you maiden the 700.

Hi guys,
Thanks Rolex, I already have a good feeling about this. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. It sounds like you are an addicted helicopter pilot, Senior navigator!!

Hi HPIguy,
Yeah, I went whole hog! Ye H a w!! Thanks, your wish is my command??
But my bank don't want me flying this thing for a long while.
I like the idea of the bigger preassembled parts, to help me with my build. And also this new upgraded DFC main rotor head has fewer parts and pieces to assemble or to play with and perhaps misplace screws or other...

Also I see everyone mostly, graduating to bigger and bigger helicopters!! So I decide to just start at the other end first. At the top!!
Yes, I certainly plan to have already acquired plenty of quality SIM practice and actual flying with a medium sized model, perhaps a TRex 500. I will always be looking forward to flying the big 700E bird eventually, & with much anticipation, plenty of excitement and other exhilarations along the way. It's stuff like this that keeps life interesting and full of surprises.

Which SIM do you prefer or recommend to buy? The ones on iPad are fun but more like video games. I already have the DX6i to plug in the back...

edit, I now have the DX8

Hi,
Wanna take you higher!! I chose to buy Real-Flight 6.5.

Anticipation,,,. Oh yeah, my how thee anticipation has been building,...
I'm beginning to get itchy palms, and nervous thumbs. Smile
Actually, very excited and really looking forward to the big day, real soon, I would hope...
when the big bird is ready to be brought home...

Congrats on that sim. RealFlight is purely #1 in my book.
When you're better at the basics, start adjusting the Tx and the mechanicals in the heli so you know what the end results really are when you do it in the 700.
Collective pitch % up or down can make a world of difference, and that's only ONE adjustment.

Hi Rolex,
You know, you can come on up to Edmonton, when I get the Super Combo package back home, and help me assemble and maiden flight the big bird...

Anyways, there is an upgrade to the tail section being announced soon, for Align TRex 700 E DFC helicopters.

Something to do with tail rotors, the new gear ratio being high, causing a humm/buzz which can actually cause structural failure.

TT parts are in the mail

Hi Rolex,
(and everyone who flies helicopter models), I think you already know how highly excited I am, as you've obviously been here before, several times over...

I should hopefully be receiving my new upgraded TT (Torque Tube) helicopter parts in the mail this coming Monday or Tuesday.
And that's when the party will truly begin, for me.

Man~woman, (not the artist) I can hardly believe it, I have my very own awesome and incredible
Align TREX 700 E DFC HV 3GX 3.0 sitting right here in front of me.

Life is getting better every day, and I'm thankful.

In a brown paper bag?

Send it to me so I can build it and test fly it for about 6 months.
You'll have it for the summer. :)

Rolex,
Yes, make it pretty, like your own. Smile

With instructions, Don't fly it until New Years Eve!! hahaha

I do need your expert assistance here.
So I'll see you when you get to the Edmonton International Airport?

Bring blue Locktite and CA.

Santa showed up early

On Monday afternoon there was a light knock on my door, but when I looked to see who was there, no one was present, they disappeared.
But upon further inspection, I found a small parcel outside my door.

I had been expecting this delivery, but not until after the new year.
My new TRex front and rear Delrin TT gears. Lovely black, strong and very quiet.
Nice to have these parts just in time for Christmas Eve.

Real Flight 6.5

I wish an Align TRex 700E was included on my SIM.

Perhaps it can be downloaded if someone created theirs.

When you open RF 6.5 to the home page on the desktop, you'll have a row of buttons on the small opening screen. Click on 'Additional Options' instead of "Run Real Flight". From the drop down menu click on "View Web Sight". Go to "Swap Files".
You might find it on an add on disc or you could download it through the swap page. Just remember, first you need the EA version of the file. That stands for 'Entire Aircraft'. After that you can add paint schemes or variants of that model.

Hi Rolex,
How's the Kool Aid ?
That's interesting bud, as I haven't done much button pressing and/or explorations yet.
So it would appear, I'm well on my way to enjoying the world of RC helicopter flying.
I never see you over at HF, but will guess you have a private handle away from rcnt, kool.

Don't need to bother you twice... Smile
I laughed last night reading about the insult a fool for a month thread, great way to kill the boredom.
But spring is nearly back, so we can all haul ass around the parks, tracks and flying fields, of our dreams again.

Be swell, I think, and do hope to fly together with you someday, if only in RF 6.5.
Being I'm here in Alberta, we'll likely never meet face to face.

Thanks again for the tip. It's good to know you have been there already...

Hey Rolex,
I'm really enjoying RF 6.5.
It's much better at home on my couch, than standing in LHS!

Thanks for the great links and awesome tips.
You've already helped me more than you know.

I look forward to seeing a few more of your baby's!!

I'm not there much. Only on occasions when I need a bit of info. This is where I pitch in.

Good to hear you've gotten into the RF sim. It's the best I've found.
If you can fly on that, you can fly on the field. Keep practicing.
