Al bulkhead preferences

RC Driving Style
So I've been shopping around for Al bulks for a couple of days now, and wanted to get some opinions on the offerings out there.

RC Solutions' stuff looks good, so I'm considering it. The others would be Integy's (has anyone seen/read anything about thier super duty type II bulks ?), Hardcore's, and maybe even Traxxas' own Al's.

Anyone recommendations as far as which is better or why? Price is a factor, but if spending $120 on a set for front/rear will be a better deal than bending a $60 and having to replace them, then so be it.

Also, are there any significant weight differences between what's out there now?

Thanks for any info... I've searched the site and found some useful information, but no real comparisons of what's on the market at the moment.
 
sounds reasonable, but they've been "out of stock" for quite some time. \:
 
I just ordered a set of the Fast Lane Machining bulkheads, PM if you want to know where to get the cheapest price :)

I've been talking to a bunch of companies that make bulks, RC Solutions seem to have the best solution (no pun), unfortunately it kinda blew the budget I had for bulks :).

I got the FLMs pretty cheap, 90.00 shipped for front, back, and braces. Along with the 8.00 replacement warranty (per side), I didnt think I could go wrong. I've heard many good things about the durability of them, plus I've also heard rumors that they are the "OEM" for a couple much larger brand names. Havent confirmed that though.

yea on their site they are out of stock but if u check out eBay, u can find Integy bulkheads all over. just do a search as like T-maxx bulkheads or something.

I run Hardcore Racing bulkheads on my T-Maxx. They are great on quality but high on price. So far I have had no problems with them.

I would recommend them or a set from RC Solutions. The set from RC Solutions has some innovative design features that give them a big plus in my books. I have not changed to them, because I am quite happy with my Hardcore Racing bulks.

If I were in your shoes, I'd seriously consider getting a set from RC Solutions.
 
Sup dude,

The Integy bulks work very well and especially for the price. THe stock Maxx bulkheads are pretty much crap but using RPM Bulkhead braces can make a HUGE difference.

I haven't run them yet but I'm getting ready to order a full set of Rc-Solutions bulks. They redisgned "the wheel" in a sense and not only are they strong as allum bulks but they have an integrated hing pin design. Scott says that they've eliminated bending of the upper hinge pin and SERIOUSLY reduced the possibillity of being the lower hing pin compared to the stock crap of Titanium that can still bend.

FYI, I've bent the crap out of Titanium hinge pins from a nasty front end accident.

Hey mods could we do a poll on the best bulkheads? Like RC solutions, Hardcore, Integy, Traxxas, etc. so people can vote and submit there opinions. then in the past people can just do a search :).

Heya Maxx tropper - It's not rocket science brother, what makes a Bulkhead good?? THe bulks don't have any designs or properties that are changed that would make one substnatially better of even noticably better then the other. Most every Alluminum Bulkhead set on the market is a clone of the stock Traxxas bulks. Some come in stronger 7075 alluminum and some are made from 6061. Rc-Solutions was the first to "redisgn the wheel" somewhat instead of making a clone of the stock part in a stronger material. I think the best looking bulks are by Dace MFG (gotta love the beautiful nickel finish on their products) and while I haven't run them (YET) I'd say that Rc-Solutions are probably the best avaliable on the current market with their hingpin design.
 
Two words: Great Assemblies! You can't go wrong with these. They are the best. They come in either 6061 or 7075 aluminum. My suggestion is to get the 7075, they are stronger. You won't be dissappointed with these. They are a little pricey, but spend your money right the first time, and not have to repurchase them again. Just my .02

Hey I forgot to mention, that if you did not want to run bulkheads, you could go with the Victory BulkLess system, by Unlimited Engineering! I'm saving up for them as we speak. One day, I will have a complete SuperMaxx. Not long from now!

WHaddup Woody,

Absolutely dude, if you can choose you'd definitely want 7075 as the whole idea of running Alluminum bulks is so they wont break...for applications like bulks the stronger the better. It's not like it's suppose to be a weak link area if your going for alluminum bulks. How much does great assembilies bulks run in 7075?? I'm asking for a buddy for a present as I can't afford to get him a set of the RC-Solutions bulks.

That's what I have in place now... and yes, they're worth the $8 they cost, no doubt. My current (2nd set) stock plastic bulks aren't broken yet, but the screws are completely stripped out of the bottom of them... a result of the Hardcore titanium skids I have on the truck. They're worth every bit of the $38 per side I paid, but being as strong as they are, when I hit something, the screws are basically "levered" out of the stock plastic bulkheads. Bulks aren't broken, but the screwholes that hold the skidpads on are _completely_ stripped.

I've read that, too. Definitely considering them, but I just don't know a lot of people who've used them. BTW.... You are the first person I've heard of being able to bend titanium.
 
VBS system!!!!!!! they are the crazyest things there are. that would be my first pick. but at over $500 it is a little expensive.LOL

LOL...that might be a possibility as I am seriously contemplating parting out my T-Maxx to finance a .21 conversion of sorts.

As for the poll, you don't have to be a mod to start one. It is an option when you start a thread. So, you can start said poll on your own.

did i say i was confused about bulkheads?:confused: i dont think so.. i was just suggesting a poll and stuff so these noobies wouldnt have to ask the same questions over and over when they could do a search.

Heh. I'm far from a "noobie"... I started this post for feedback on the current selection of Al bulks out there. There isn't a difinitive comparison of what's available out there that I've seen.

Hey bro, Definitley let us know how those work out for ya as I should be ordering them soon (that and about $300+ worth of their stuff). A definite comparative of most everything Avaliable for the Maxx, Savage and every other RC car and truck would be sweet. Even if it was full of hard opinions and bias, it would be a great resource.
