Anyone ever try this? I've seen some 3 and 4HP engines that look like they might fit into a buggy. I'm sure you would have to build a custom engine mount and find some way to get a clutch bell attached but with that much HP you could really make a buggy fly.

I have toyed with the idea several times of either adding an airplane engine or a boat engine onto one of my RC's. The one thing I have noticed is that it looks like the HP/engine size ratio seems lower for the plane and boat engine.

Also, airplane engines usually go up around the 10K RPM range whereas car/truck engines are around 30K. I have seen somewhere on one of these boards where a guy put a 4 stroke engine in a Maxx. A 4 stroke would give you the torque, but would probably suffer on top speeds.

But with high enough torque and high enough gearing wouldnt it be even faster because you can put such high gearing???

FRB's sig is cracking me up.

isn't cooling also an issue? airplanes are always moving at high speeds, therefore the head doesn't have to have as much cooling. i think the engine would overheat even you did gear the torque into speed.

wasn't 3maxxman going to put a huge airplane engine on his maxx? somethign silly like a .70 ??

this is the .70 3maxxman is putting in a maxx:

I donno if that's an airplane engine or not. it has a cb on it so maybe it's an RC car engine 1/5 scale?

whatever it is, it's a monster.

just insane...

i donno it's gonn be a 10 pound weapon when he's done. i pitty the phone pole that's unlucky enough to have that beast smash into it.

I've already damn near broken my ankle with my onroad. I dont even want to think about getting hit with a buggy or truck at WOT...especially not one that size.

:worship: That is going to be out of control! Damn that is a big engine. He better make sure he has a couple of fails safe's on there.

mabey he should make a wheely bar on there...... i looks like he will need it!!!!!! That thing will HAUL (_o_) !

How much is that engine? I wouldn't mind having that in my storm :D Then it could really fly!

That hugeassed engine is a Thunder Tiger .70, and it's out of their EK-4S2 MT. IT's a heli engine with a big heat sink head. If you wannk know what it's like, go to thundertiger.com, then EK-4 and check out the videos.

EP, you're probably wondering why I'm surfing the buggy zone.....
