So I bought a Savage Roller last week and it needs a powerplant. I haven't had any good luck finding a decent BB motor yet for short money, and a buddy of mine is into RC Planes. He has a pretty much new OS 40FX Engine he's willing to sell me for $25....1/2 gallon to 1 gallon of fuel run through it.

Any way in hell I could adapt that to a Savage without customizing everything? I haven't had much luck with my online research for this....so tossing it out there for some of you Savage gurus ;-)

i think the airplane motors are designed to run at a constant rpm instead of the reving of a ground based rc. i dont think you will get much life out of it.

Believe it or not, this thought has crossed my mind. It'll be interesting to see if you can do it.

One thing that I noticed though, is the plane engines have less surface area on the cooling heads too.

Plane engines sit behind a built in cooling fan. Unless it's a 4 stroke, it's made for the RPMs so you won't be getting much power at low end. The crank is also made to mount a prop, not a clutch bell.

The biggest problem would be cooling. Now if you milled the top down and added another heat sink.....who knows. It would be very slow though because the airplane engines max out at around 15k. However it would be cool to see though.
