I have an associated gt2. Right now I am only going to drive it on street. Is it really necessary to oil the air filter.

Thanks

should i do before the break in process or after

Before, but go light on the oil, a little goes a long ways. Take the filter off the frame if possible, and put a little oil on it, then gently squeeze the filter and work it into the foam evenly all the way around. You should do it the night before you're going to run as well. Filters always need oiled, even during break in. If you bought a new RTR rig, most filters are pre-oiled at the factory, but make sure.

Even if it is a clean dry place, there are still microscopic particulate in the air that will cause wear on your motor.

Oh God no.... please not another air filter thread my head is still spinning from the last one.LOL
Rule #1 --always run an air filter.

Rule#2---If someone tells you, you don't need an air filter see rule #1

ALWAYS....I mean ALWAYS run an oiled air filter. I bought a car on Ebay from a guy, it was spotless clean never seen anything but pavement. The filter was not oiled..the piston and sleeve were SHOT in less than a gallon of run time....you could see brass on the inside of the sleeve from erosion from tiny dirt. I got stuck with rebuilding it because the failure to read directions. Don't let it happen to you!!
