will lengthening my air filter neck affect engine performance ??...I've been thinking of making it longer so i can place the filter somewhere else on the truck ....i have the revo with the 3.3

This topic has come up before, try a search. I remember one good point to be aware of is a longer neck may introduce more opportunities for venturies, little swirl like tornadoes inside near turns or kinks the just swirl, and block air from moving how fast you want it to.

I am pretty sure the amount you are talking about will make no difference. If you need to do it.....make it happen. Just make sure you are using a good quality oiled foam air filter and you will be GTG.

There's a cold air induction mod that I read about for the Savage, and all it does is move the filter up so it's above the body and away from the motor. So I assume it can't affect much, and might actually help.

I've actually been contemplating how to make a forced air induction, routing air from in front into a tunnel that feeds the filter. Just not sure how it would affect tuning. In theory, it would have to be run richer on the top end to handle the mass air flow.

thats what i was thinking on doing ..some sort of ram air system ....wanted some info before i do anything ;)

thanks

i know regular 2 strokes like dirt bikes, i have heard that lengthening the neck changes the power band but I'm not for sure if the same principal would work for a nitro engine but i assume it would.
