I'm more used to electrics, I just got a nitro a couple months ago, it came without an air filter. Do I need one? I've heard people say to never run without one, and people saying that it doesn't matter, so, air filter?

Air filter is a must other wise you may as well sandblast the inside of your engine dirt is highly abrasive and its everywhere its a slow death!:p:

Running without an air filter will ruin a nitro engine. You should run a good quality dual-stage foam filter not one of the paper style such as a K&N.

air filter

i wuld defo get one ordered and just be patient!! i am having to wait for my airfilter oil as i wont run my car without oil on the filter never mind without a filter!!!!

is ther any suggestions on oils to use on air filter?? other than the recomended air filter oil!!!! eg i use wd40 instead of buy afterrun oil save so much munny and dose exactly the same job mayb better!!!!:D:)

Yea regular engine oil can be used as well. I ran 20w50 on mine when I ran out of filter oil, and it worked just great.

Total RC newbie here, but consider this; would you run your car without an air filter? It's the same principle, you don't want dirt inside the engine.

well neva thought of that one great thanks!!! so it will be safe enough to use the car engine oil as i wuld the airfilter oil!! thanks again:D

any oil is better than no oil at all ...but the filter oil is more sticky ....could try using those thick oil additives for old car engines ...that stuff is pretty sticky to

Or just get yourself a cheap bottle of air filter oil. lol. Hell buy two, for when you run out. LOL

I would like to know where these people are? I have never in all my years EVER heard anyone 1) ask a question like this, 2) NEVER heard anyone ever say it's fine not to use one??? Does exceed have their own forum or something?

Air filter oil ftw.

Yes you can run it without a filter but it's not made for that.

Let me explain, I accidentally ran an engine without an air filter and since I was already out I figured I'll choose a clean area where there's no dirt or debris. Now I could tell you from firsthand-on exper your idle might rise a little high once in awhile when your tank gets half to almost empty. By not having an air filter yes it may damage your engine. But also it may cause your engine to have more air being let in the necessary. It's all kind of effects performance.

Never run an engine without an air filter. Because either you going to get something in there that is not going to come out or in worst case scenarios when your fuel levels go low or almost empty, it will raise your idol a little too high and at times May raise your idle anyway.

I know this is like 10 years old or so. But I figured because I just ran my engine without a air filter by accident I was just curious if I was right about some of the scenarios anyway Thank you.
