After you run your RC how do you clean it?

Like after you run it how do you clean it like do you put in afterrun oil??

after you run it if you want to just put the oil in and turn over the motor a few times and it will get it all nice and lubed up... but only use it when ur not going to drive it for a long time because its a waste to put it in after every run.. you really dont need it that much the oil in the gas helps the same way..

I was told to do it after every run. That didn't sound right. I know to clean and oil the air filter every two hours of run time.

yea i rarely put after run oil in my engines... they dont need it.. my uncles car sat for 6 months no oil or anything and it was perfect inside the motor no rust or anything... they told me they didnt need it.

You can put after run oil in at the end of every day you run. 1-2 drops if its only going to sit for a few days and more if longer.

Putting after run oil in WILL NOT HURT in ANY way whatsoever! It can only help!

Ok cool maybe like every other run ill put some in.

Is inside the glow plug hole the g spot for the AR oil.

I typically drop 1-2 down the glo hole to hit the piston and sleeve and 1 in the carb and work the linkage to get it all around the carb.

Chris nailed it on the head man a couple drops in each hole look at it this way mayhem you got a whole bottle at 4 drops everytime you use it, you are only gonna help the life or the motor and its not like you are gonna use it all up in a week. X

Always use Oil after each day! ESP in humid climates.

Nitro SUCKs in the moisture from the air and that can corrode the piston. you may not even be able to see it. tiny white dust or textured surface. and that will score your piston and sleve.

AND Clean around your holes before you open them. you dont want any thing falling in.

I use Den. Alchohol in a squirt bottle and clean around the filter and glow plug and let it dry. then i put a fet drops of oil (AR or WD40) i have a plug for the carb and the pipe.

The air filter.. if you see dirt soaking in the top 1/2 or so clean it in soap and water, let it fully dry and re oil. I keep a few filter foams close just in case.

Then dont for get to charge you batteries. dead batteries SUCK

On top of the advice these fellows offered, I always check for loose or missing screws and replace or tighten things up as appropriate. I also check for anything that might be cracked but not broken. It is good to know what is going to give during the next big impact.

Mayhem, my "huh" remark was directed at your grammar on the question. I knew basically what you were asking, but that grammar sucked.

BTW, even if you don't use after-run oil every time, you should at least run the fuel out of the engine when you are done for the day. do this be draining the tank, starting your motor, & letting it idle until it stalls from lack of fuel. you obviously don't need to do this if your day ends with the car stalling by running out of gas.

why run the fuel out? Capt-Kirk said it: "Nitro SUCKs in the moisture from the air and that can corrode the piston."

i've seen well tuned & religiously stored airplane engines last 20+yrs. i have a 12yo OS61sf that has 100's of hours on it. i never rebuilt it & it still runs like a top. no BS.

Draining the tank is a must. If your lucky, you can last 5 days with out your engine rusting or gumming. Depending on the quality fuel you use, some fuel will prevent rust and gummy, some won't. To be safe, add a few drop won't hurt if you know your not going to run the car. Thats why it's recommended to add a few drop after every run, most of the people will not know when is the next time they will run. To save money, use marvel.

this is how i do it

after every run i put in after run oil, clean the motor off w/ nitro cleaner and take the truck apart and remove the electronics. then i go into the shower and scrub my trucks w/ a tooth brush and ajax soap then rinse. after thats done i wipe it dry and lube of all the bearings and pivot point w/ racing lube. after that i armoral the whole truck w/ cleaner and put it back together. my truck always looks brand new. i only do this when i get it really dirty. it takes time but hey, I've got alot of that.

I don't know which part of that to comment on, but the part where you shower with your dismantled trucks just sounds so wrong.
:D
