  1. Bashing
I'm looking to buy a new truck and I'm thinking of either the Losi Aftershock or the T-Maxx 3.3. I'm mainly going to be bashing and jumping, no racing. I don't really care about speed, as long as it goes pretty fast and has good torque. Which one would be better for my purposes and which one has better part availability.
Thanks

from the list you gave us i would pick the aftershock.I heard some bad stuff about the t-maxx.But IMO i would get a savage x 4.6

Yeah, I already have a Savage, I want to try some other company though.
Losi's cheaper aswell at my LHS

The aftershock is a good rig, so is the T-maxx, both have their downsides of course. The stock t-maxx parts can be brittle, and I have heard numouros stories of people who spend more time fixing their t-maxx than running it. Then again the Aftershock also has some issues, such as the stock front a-arms are prone to breaking, which is easily fixed with the RPM arms and lunsford turnbuckles. My LST has the RPM front end and it is nearly bulletproof, think 13lbd rig hitting an exposed half inch thick nail at the track mid flight, stopped it cold, no breakage. The other thing with the Aftershock is things like tires and bodies are limited because of the size of the rig, T-maxx is much easier to mix and match bodies and tires. Traxxas has the good engine replacement plan, Losi does not, but you can put a bigger engine on the losi without modification and the possibilities are greater. All in all I like my LST better than the T-maxx because of size and durability, but I may be a bit biased.

well i have the 2.5 T-maxx and all i am douing is fixing it... problem after problem so its ur choice... it may be me not doing things correctly or something but its upto you... oh i just read about 10 mins ago that the conrod in the 3.3 has to be change about every 2 gallons but thats just hat i heared

Okay, thanks guys. I might just save my money and add a bunch of new stuff on my Savage. Are there any other bashing type trucks out there that are affordable?

If you have the Savage I would stick with that and bash away, the Aftershock is a good basher, but I think your idea of putting the money into your savage is a good idea.

Any suggestions on what I should upgrade? I have an Lrp Z.28S3 on it, also a tuned pipe and reverse module.

I do not know a lot about the parts on the savage as I have never owned one, but there are a ton of people on here that can be a huge help with that. I would think of going with all RPM arms, maybe some new tires/rims, and basically some driveline upgrades like diffs and changing dogbones to CVDs.

Okay, thanks for the help. What are CVD's? I've heard of them, but never new what they were.

my experance is with a t-maxx 3.3 it IS fast. DO run the wheely bar. DO be on your toes, because of it speed its VERY easy to crash. DO NOT run in a parking lot, there are to many things to crash into. did i mention its easy to crash? find a park thats big. get a small paint brush to get the grass and dirt off before you go home. i did somthing to break it in, that is NOT recomended, but it worked fore me, i reajusted the throttle so it would only open half way. did mention that its so fast that its easy to crash? i bought mine 4th mo i have allready spent as much repairing it as i payed to buy it. but the stock parts a not expensive.

haha, I'll keep those tips in mind if I get the truck.
Thanks

Well if you already have a Savage I think you'll be diappointed with a Maxx. I(my son) still have a Maxx, but it's rediculous how easy it'll break compared to my Savage.
I don't blame you for wanting to try different brands, that's what I do every cahnce I get. I have an Aftershock now, but it's not drivable yet. I tried a Duratrax Warhead, really not that bad but a bit slow for a big block. I sold it to friend and he has bashed it hard and it's holding it's own ok. The RTX-27,upgraded Warhead, is faster and seems to be ok too. Both are discontrinued and parts are currently cheap but how long until they're gone too?
Another one I heard decent reviews on and want to try is the Team Associated MGT 8.0 or 4.6SE. Then there's the close clone to a Savage, the CEN Genesis.

Just some food for thought for you.

I have got a 2.5 t-maxx and I am pretty happy with it. What I have noticed is the grey parts on the 3.3 break really easy but I have the grey bulkheads on my 2.5 and I jump the living poop out of it and ever since I put the grey parts on nothing has broke. I would say that my 2.5 has some pretty good speed but thats just my opion. Well for instance I set up my jump hit it about 20mph and totally wipe on the land straight nose first walked over to flipped it on its wheels and fired it up and drove away.

I'll probably just stick with my Savage for now. But I'll still keep an eye out for some good deals.
The Team Associated MGT 8.0 or 4.6SE seem nice, any comments on those trucks?

I had the 4.6 SE but i bought it preowned and I've had it 4 a year ond only used 2 gallons of fuel in as i can't be bothered taking it out as every time i do it breaks and i wasn't even jumping. The one time i was jumping on a field it ran 2 sessions of about 45 mins before it boke and thats the longest I've had it working.
