whats up muskeg here, I'm trying to find waterproof servos for my revo, or find out whats out there that can stand up to water or sand. also is there anything to replace the opti drive.my throttle servo is serging and wont alow my revo to open up at full throttle . no broken wirers and not apparent water damage. have been out in the snow a bit. I'm not sur if this is a opti drive problem or a throttle servo problem , it was running great and suddenly started surging. i have about 16 tanks of fuel in her and no problems since break in. can any body help with this problem....or now of any upgrade servo-opti drive sets for the revo. cleaned air filter, running good and good temp (240) when the problem started.

Most people just add the Forward Only Conversion (FOC) This eliminates the problematic Optidrive assembly. It also removes the reverse servo and gear assemblies, which tend to be weak links.. You would then plug the throttle servo directly into the receiver. I added the center diff and rear brake conversion to my Revo which included the FOC.

If your mildly concieances about what your doing, the optidrive can be removed while still having reverse. It's purpose is to keep newbies from throwing it in reverse or forward while moving.

The hitec 985MG uses o-rings in the case seals and has an o-ring on the output drive. It may not be water "proof" but it definitely would be water resistant. I use one for steering on my revo. Works really well. Impressively better than a single 645MG (what I was running) and a lot better than stock.

You do know that you can seal your servos, or dip them in plastidip or put them in a balloon if you're looking for a quick low cost fix. That's what many of our members do and it seems to work well.

i know !

if you seal with plastidip or a balloon there is a good chance if submerging or even not submerging the gear, that water will enter where the servo arm enters the servo. :boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing:

Putting an o-ring under the horn helps. I still prefer servos that come with an o-ring around the output shaft inside the case... but those are a bit more costly. Except for maybe the traxxas versions. I don't know if they have o-rings inside or not. I'd assume that they do due to the fact that they promote heavy water usage with their e-maxx.

the water proof traxxas servos are 30 dollars and u can get mini or they make two different strengths of regular sized servos :boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing:
