Hello everyone, i'm new to this forum. I'm a machinist and i design my own parts on Solidworks. I play paintball and I currently make custom parts for paintball guns. However, i want to divert more to making parts for r/c cars.

My question is... Which cars need aftermarket support? Which are laking attention?

What can i make better on some cars?

Any and all input is appreciated.

I'll tell you want I want more then anything...

Titanium skid plates for the HPI Savage. Yes I know New Era makes alum. ones that fit OVER the existing skid plates...I hate that, I think its pointless to have to skids plates. Instead I'd like titanium skid plates that replace the existing stock ones.

Any RC vehicle that has plastic swing arms is a good candidate for a machined aluminum replacement. (cough T-Maxx cough).

Woodie? Isn't titanium a bit of an overkill for a skid plate?

No way Titanium is good for everything...Can't be to careful. When it comes to protecting your drivelines and everything else Titanium is never over kill.

Oh yes, Ti gears for the TC3 sound cool. Dont know how well they would hold up but hey its worth a shot.

HPI supernitro needs all kinds of upgrades ... some aluminum 2.2 inch rims would be cool

Absolutely not. Ti is the only way to go with skids. Aluminum will bend when you hit something, when you bend them back they get weaker, until they break. Titanium will not, they will last you the life of your truck.

The savage skid plates are in the works as we speak. And I'm also working on the gears for the NTC3.

As for the t-maxx, I believe that market is already swamped. I mean, i can name 5 maybe 10 company's that make arms for it. But for what its worth, i'll give it a shot.

Bob the savage skid plates your working on now, are the ti or alum?

Any idea on prices yet? Or when they will be ready for the market?

Its always great to see an entrepreneur applying their craft to fill the needs of us junkies.

IMO,
I would concentrate on products that have failed to be made properly and products that have very little manufacturing competition.

A few of these products may include:
T-Maxx diff. cups (Only 2 companies. Kippster and another with a bad design)

EZ-Start adapter plates for non Traxxas engines, (Great Idea Terrible company)

.21 starter adapter plates for the new .21 starter and drills. (None that I know of)

TI knuckle joints for turnbuckles. (1 company that doesn't answer e-mails)

Specialized show body parts. license plate frames, rear view mirrors, door handles, and WW wipers.

It seems to me that these types of specialty items would set your company apart the all the other producers of mass products and put you on the map. Once this is done and your reputation is established you will be able produce and sell just about anything of quality with success.

I wish you luck and assure you that everyone here at RCNT is looking forward to your success.

I really appreciate the way you introduced yourself to our forum and invited us to help you in your research.

Also maybe some Ti bumpers and rollbars for the Savage. We really dont have much to choose from in those areas. Thanks and welcome to the forum:worship:

if you could find a way to make a small compact size bumpstarter, ill be on that like ... ... something thats on things really tight

I'm looking forward to making a ton of parts for the savage. From your feedback, and feedback from other forums, these seem to be in very high demand.

EXCELLENT IDEA! The diff cups will take a while to design, those seem pretty complex. I'm gonna hafta dismantly my own T and check it out. The ez start adapters are a great idea, however, i have to see about patent infringments from the companies that make them (maybe i can sell it, "under the table?"). What do you mean by Knuckle joints? I dont know what that is...

Good question, i think i'm going to offer them as both. I will have to design them first, also see how much its going to cost to buy the material and have it CNC machined. Also, i dont have a savage, so i'm designing this from pure dimension a friend gave me. The price? I reckon its going to run about 20-25 bucks a pop.
