Hello :

Maybe its related or not but after i change my cooling head to a bigger, and after two minutes of runing , my Tmaxx stop to respond when I'm in full thortle.

Its very easy to start.
Settings are factory.
Nitro fuel got one month
Plug new ( Os Hot )

Your help will be wellcome....

Luis

What do you mean stopped to respond? Like you had no control over it from your transmitter?

I would think that's more of a radio issue than a motor issue...

Try leaning it out a bit at the HSN... it sounds like you are running a bit rich on the top end. I found that with my Maxx as soon I changed to a bigger cooling head it was easier to tune but I had to fiddle with it to get it to run better. Just be careful when you lean it out at either the HSN or the LSN, with the new head it will run cooler and its very tempting to lean it out to reach the 260 mark. I was only able to get it to run about 220 with the ACNCM head on it. Hope this helps.

if I want to get peak performance from my 2.5s I had to get it to 260 before it was worth anything....if you're just bashing I can see the lower temp...if you want to race then you need that puppy to get hot...

Hey Plaid,

That's what I thought too. I have leaned it out to just the point where I don't get any smoke and I am still not at 260. Is there something else I can do to help get the temps up? Maybe mess with the LSN a bit? I am just afraid of burning the mill up. Thanks my friend, as always.

Tom

that mill is a throwaway mill anyway....if you got the punch to lift the wheels up from dead stop w/ the needles set where U have them...I wouldn't be lookin for more power than that....If you have no smoke you're too lean....how is your LSN? Do you have the off the line kick to get it up in the air?

If it is dead cold and you start it does it have power right off the bat? If so it will run great till it warms up then it starts to run super hot. Won't be surprised if your temps were over 300+. Richen the HSN. Do you have a temp gun? What fuel are you using?

Actually I went and re read my post and there is an error in it. What I meant to say is that I leaned it out until I had no smoke and my temps were just close to 260, but since I had no smoke, I richend the HSN until I had smoke and my temps were in the low 200's. I do have a temp guage. I am using Trinity Monster 20%. Plaid, I don't quite have the pull the wheels off the ground power.

Even when it warms up...Jon has a good point...that engine REALLY needs to be up to temp before you start tuning it....it turns an easy job into a PITA job if you don't get it to it's running temp wherever it's set at.....I grew very tired of those mills real quick.....I found the Fantom .18 w/ the red head to be the best mill to use for it...cause it gave some real fast top end w/ a decent low end...and they are almost impossible to overheat.....I seen one come off of a main race at 410 and it didn't fade at all.....only the red hed fantoms are like that though..the newer silver turbo heads run in the normal temp ranges....

Hey Plaid,

When you are breaking your mill in what temp do you get it at before you start to tune it? Does a mill get to 260 right out of the box?

I wait until it's at least 200....if it's running cooler than that after like 1/4 tank I lean out the top first and see where to go from there.....I'm no pro at it yet but I can get em in the ball park.....the only mills I'm comfortable w/ are the 2.5/ RG / Fantom .18 (red-head) and the Fantom .27 I'm still learning...I've had plenty of other mills and If I can't get them to behave in less than a gallon I trade/sell em and try something new......I find some engines are just made for the idiot proof tuning and some are just all out performance, but they're more work to keep it there.....the 2.5 is a good learning mill...it responds well when you change the head...I ran the nova cooling head and the Golden Horizons one......the nova worked great but I hear that ACNC one is really well designed for the 2.5.......they weren't easily found when I had my 2.5's........just make small adjustments and wait til you see a difference (good or Bad) before you make another change in the needle settings...
