Advice etc!!!

Hi ALL,

Well Well, I am so glad I joined here because it seems to be the place for REAL enthusiast of the RC world!!

SO.....My questions are:
1: I own a Thunder Tiger Nitro TS-4N with a Peugeot 206 Rally Shell on it....my problem is that I recently moved to a farm and obviously there are NO smooth enough surfaces to play on with it so I was wondering IF I can convert it to a "truggy" or something in that form by changing the suspension arms, shocks, drive shafts etc????

2: Failing the above, Would anybody be interested to swop for a nitro truggy or buggy or truck of the same value????

3: Failing that......can I just add bigger buggy wheels or would this mess up the drivetrain and clutch etc????

You'd be better off trying to trade what you have for an off road vehicle. Even if you got some longer arms, longer shafts, taller shock towers(all these parts would have to be "modded"" to fit), changed the gearing drastically, ect...I believe you would still be plagued by driveline/breakage issues just because of the fact that your vehicle was never intended for off road use.

it would definatley strip the diffs putting larger wheels on it. A year or so back i tried putting a set of 1/8 truggy wheels on a 1/8 buggy and it totally knackered the diffs. They couldn't cope with the force of trying to turn the wheels. As you can imagine there is alot more rubber touching the floor.

I would go with what Metalhead Matt and the other good guys said. You would consider weighing the cost for the parts and shipping when you need to convert it (I'm guessing not all parts would be readily or easily available). Those costs do add up. If you add bigger tires, the front tires may hit the frame and would not steer well, and like you said it may also mess up the drivetrain because it was not meant for offroad. Nice car by the way.
And lastly, just a suggestion.....if you are at a farm already, and considering a nitro truggy, do you have easy access to a local hobby store where you can buy nitro fuel? If not, then you may consider electric 4wd buggy or truggy. Or you could easily order fuel online and pay additional hazmat for the fuel. By the way, I envy you for the open space that you have, no neighbors who will complain about the nitro engine noise! Plus you can make your own race track, invite your friends, improve the race track for a friendly competition and be able to charge for entrance fee............hmmmmm lots of possibilities.

Thank You so much for the replies and input! I will probably put it up for swop any ideas where?
I think the idea of a small track is an AWESOME plan and I have already started planning it because I have so much space here and can basically build what I want AND with the help of my father inlaw and his diggers etc, this will be awesome!! I will post pics soon as!!

I dont really want to go back to electric and Nitro is easy available here and yes the joys of full throttle without a neighbour to worry about!!!!!!
