Adding weight

For those that have a crawler and need weight added here is a idea for you that I use and I found it works really well. Wraping solder around the rims then using a bit of hot glue to hold it in place works with most of every rim and tire that I have used. You can add as much as you won't just trim the foam and put it over the solder. It keeps the weight down low,makes the shocks work better and helps with traction. nice, I have seen this done with romex wire as well. Its good for plastic or low weight wheels, most aluminum wheels I feel are heavy enough.

Ha, I did that a couple of times. Worked great on my Wraith spawn kit that came with a really good set of plastic beadlocks.

That’s old school. I love it. Reminds me of the days when people would fill their tires with copper BBs for weight and tire conformation.

I still rock stick on lead wheel balancing weights in all my crawlers’ wheels regardless of what the brass wheenies say about “rotational mass, bad! Brass everything, good!”

These work perfectly and fit right in the ring of most 1.9s and 2.2s.

lol i go the distance, i use heavy brass rims 62g each, with wheel weights, with brass add ons like portal covers and such, then i sometimes add even more, my redcat has a big honkin bolt strapped to the front end lol, I'm crawling 90% of the time, i want all 4 tires on the ground,
I'm in the process of trying to not buy a lead smelter so i can smelt led weights for each truck!
I'm a fan of more is better, as long as we keep it low, preferably under the axle.
my cen needs aabout 10-15 lbs added onto the front so it can haul the chairs i have planned for it lol,
its hard when your towing a vehicle when the tow vehicle is lighter than the towed. just makes the front end flip up

in this video you can see i had to just push down on the front end, once the tires hit the ground she took off, i had to slow it down so i could keep up.
jump to 4:45 i flipped it backwards trying to go up a small hill
if i had 5 more lbs on the front i would have stayed stable and climbed right up, but then id also be blowing out my shocks id say lol i need bigger shocks

Right on. I have always liked the old school ways my self. I have some rock lizard tires on a RC with the stick on weights in them. It does not get over mabey 15 mph so there is no issue with balance problems and I have sanded the inside of the tires to make them soft with very little foam so they don't ever bounce when spinning.

I think your idea is pretty clever.
I'll just point out, most of the RC'ers around here use ice cream to "add weight".

oof sadly yis my lightest rig a redcat ascent, but i thought it would look cool with the anvil body, then i needed a tow winch then it just snowballed, hobywing quickrun fusion pro in all my crawlers
i dont have a scale i can weigh em on but its way under weight to be towing other trucks lol
