Thanks, Chu. Gotta give credit for that to Scrammy Publications, Traxxas Bandit VXL, on YouTube. His vid really put the hook in me to finally build a Bandit. Vid posts up here as "unavailable", but it's still on YouTube. And it's a good watch.

Looping out is a characteristic of an overpowered Bandit. Hopefully, eliminating the wing and adding a 2oz steel ballast bar up front between the bumper and bulkhead will minimize that. -AC

Thanks, Kevin. Wanted to get the showcase photos up before she hit the backyard grass track bullring initiation. She's due up next on the ladder as soon as the weather clears again. -AC

Bandit Special got her grasstrack debut yesterday on the backyard bullring. Back-to-back 12 lap times of 1min:34sec running the track CW and 1m:35s running the opposite direction CCW. Combined time of 3m:9s advances her out of semi-final round to finals.

First build using a 'speed' servo for steering. Had to set in (-) 60 on the 4PLS EXP Stg to tame her cornering. Both heats run at 50% THR mandated by my rules package.

Chassis balance seems o.k. coming off a 1sec Delta (difference) in lap times. Other than setting initial ride height, Bandit still awaits preload tweek and shock tuning. Parc Ferme R-T-R weight is 4.1lb (74.35oz). Gladiator SCT tires the hot set up for this build.

Battery End Voltage (BattEndv) finished the day a respectable 8.21v. Using the smaller, lighter 2s x 5000 130C 7.6v HV 'Shorty'. This after 4+4 warm-up laps; 12+12 race laps. Throw in 1+1 pre-stage out laps and +1 lap penalty to re-stage after over staging. 36 laps on track plus drive time on and off pit lane.

Over all, a good day at the races for the Bandit Special. She came away with both track record and low consistence time for the event to date. -AC

I love the look of them Gladiators SC on there. Is that stock wheelbase?

Thanks, Rusty. Yeah, stock w/b. Agree, the Glad's look good. And they have just the right amount of traction action without overpowering the chassis.

I'd like a lighter wheel than the Raid, but they came pre-glued. Then I doubled-down by installing aluminum hex inserts on the rear. My own enemy, I guess.

I think a set of ARRMA 2.2/3.0 14mm wheels would be a great match for the Glad's. In another day and time, I might have done that. Cheers. -AC
