hi all, new here, sorry if this thread is in the wrong section. I had an acme cyclone and it was a self build one, great fun learning how it all worked but i seriously considered giving up the hobby as it was such a horrible engine, .18 team infinity, i had two engines as the first just came appart. I now have a thunder tiger ts4n and its so much fun and am seriously getting into it.

anyway getting onto my query, i removed my lame infinity engine from my acme chassis the other day and infact the chassis and build quality of this car is spectacular, it seems so tough but the engine is the only thing keeping this car from the races so to speak, its fluid, tough and has plenty of "bashing" qualities as its shaft driven.

And so the question, how do i go about sourcing an engine that will fit with NO modding and wil be a sweet runner?

also big thank you for the for the help i recieved recently about glow starters, i finally found something i was happy with, i used a 12v field battery and a power panel and a glow pug ignitor on a chord. Its very reliable and i have thoroughly gotten into this hobby (mainly thanks to my floatingaround this site) and so apologies for not posting more often, I'm just being like a sponge at the mo and taking it all in lol:hehe:

DAve "epic noob" :D

investment

I'm assuming these engines are an "investment" engines so to speak. As in one time purchase long time service??

is there things i need to look for though in particular?

The acme cyclone engine appears to have its exhaust port on the right hand side of the vehicle see below (with crank shaft facing forward in the car)

most engines I'm looking at seem to have the exhaust port at the rear or other side. Is it possible to find engines with an exhaust on the side I'm looking for?

You need a small block engine obviously and yes it needs to be right hand side exhaust. There are two more things you need to know. Is it a rotary carb or a slide carb? What type of crankshaft it has. IE; SG crank, standard crank, short crank...
Just an example to compare yours' to to determine what style you need.

From the pic in the link it looks like the engine I linked you to will be a direct drop in.
The crankshaft is my only concern, I need to see the Infinity without the flywheel.

Thanks for chiming in MGT. The O.S. will be a dream compared to that Infinity turd.
I have only had one O'S. engine and it was so easy to break in and tune. That O.S. engine will feel like twice the Infinity engine powerwise.

seems like a purchase is in order then.

ha ha

thanks so much for the advice and pointers
