I know nothing about these trucks. I've been trying to read as much as possible, to learn the ups and downs..
I'm waiting for the Maxx to get here, and the wait is making me crazy.
Is there any standard problems with these trucks that I should know about?
Also, What should be the first upgrade.
and then the next..so on and so on.
I know that sounds anoying, but i'll take whatever help I can get.
Thanks in advance.

LOL...if this is a stock T-Maxx, then the first down you will learn about will be parts breakage. You will find that you are about to undertake an odyssey of spending to make the T-Maxx as sturdy as the Savage.

Aside from that, once hopped up it is a great truck to run. If it is not a .21, you may be a little disappointed with its performance and may want to consider converting it.

First upgrades are entirely up to you. As I said...if it is stock, the first upgrades I would consider would be:

1. Upgraded steering servo (any hi torque servo should do...I prefer HiTec digitals myself).
2. ProLine Steering kit (similar to the MP steering set up for the Savage)
3. Upgraded air filter (MotorSaver is a great choice here)
4. Lunsford Titanium turnbuckles
5. Lighter wheels (Maxx Mashers are a good choice and RPM Monster Claws for the rims are a light weight rim...but so are dish rims).
6. ...

This list could go on and on...to include such items as shocks, bulkheads, towers, fuel tank, chassis braces, skid plates, roll cage, etc. You may want to read some more and decide how deep your wallet is.

This is the T maxx that FSTFBDY was selling. I think that he bought a lot of stuff from Humboltblazer for this Maxx.
I'm 100% sure that it's hopped up somewhat, but I didn't get to save the list of stuff done to it before the thread was edited.
So I was looking to cover my bases. If it's a part that hasn't been changed, I'll change it. Or if its a part thats a lesser hop up, I will change as well.
Just trying to get an idea..
Thanks again for your help Skymaxx. You are always a big help to me, and I am thankfull.
thank you to all.

Also, it has a Sirro .18 in it. Is that enough, or should I go for the 21 conversion?
and it was a 2.5 MAXX

Sirio .18 is nothing to sneeze at. That engine in a properly hopped up and lightened T-Maxx can do wonders. When you get it, let us know what you think versus your Savage. I, for one, am curious to know.

As for upping it to a .21-.28 sized engine, nothing beats a .21-.28 powered MT. Just something about all that power. You may want to consider the conversion after you see what you have.

I've heard that a .21 motor will rip the plastic gears out of it. Is that true?
can they be replaced with steel?

The big block engines are, indeed, hard on the drive train. Most people end up upgrading them. Some do it for the Sirio .18 that your Maxx is sporting. You may find that the gears have already been upgraded.

I suggest that you PM FSTFBDY and ask for the listing on his truck. That way you know exactly what you are getting by way of a reference for when it arrives. It will also help you with respect to troubleshooting questions down the road.

You are 100% right, as always.
Thanks again.

cool. thanks Dom!! this info is all very helpfull..

Actually, I would have to say that aluminum bulkheads would be the 1st upgrade. Especially with that big Sirio engine on there. The bulkheads pretty much connect everything together on the truck, and get worn out very quickly.

since it already has hopups on it and bought it off of FSTFBDY I'm sure it already has alum bulks on it

yes it does..I have the list of what it has.I got it from him today .just waiting for the truck now... I hate to wait!
