I seem to have a problem that I thought I never could have...my tuned pipe will not stay on!! I have an XTM X-Terminator with everything stock still. Whenever I hit something, or run into something head on the tuned pipe slides to the front of the buggy causing it to pop out of the coupler. Not good. Anyway, I've tried putting more zip ties on, tightning the nut that holds the exhaust hanger, and the little hex nut that holds the tuned pipe to the hanger. Any Suggestions??

If you don't know what I'm talking about I'll post some pics.

Thanks!!

Get a new coupler and zipties. You may consider placing the pipe closer to the header by closing the gap. This will change the power. It will make more torquewith this set up.

Good luck

take a pair of pliers and bend out the end of the pipe.do it very easy you just wan't to put a little flare in it..this will help you keep your pipe on.

You mean the end where the exhaust goes in right?? Cause that sounds similar to what my Savage tuned pie is like.

My coupler is only a little more than a week old and I've already tried new zip ties.

yes the end that conects to the header..just flear it out and put your coupler back on and zip tie it down. you should be good to go.
or you can buy a tuned pipe...

Depending on the pipe and header, you can stick a decent sized round shaft screw driver in there and work it in a circle. Kind of hard to explain, but stick a screwdriver in the pipe, grab the pipe and screwdriver like your trying to bend the two in a V, not to much tension, then slowly work the screwdriver around the flange of the pipe. It will put a slight lip where the coupler ties on.

Yeah, I followed that. That would give a nice even flare too. Thanks.

Good... after I typed it, I barely followed it and I've done it 3 times!

I think it would give you better results than a pair of pliers. I think pliers would be kind of likely to cause a poor seal since it wouldn't be an even flair.

You could also rough up where the coupler sits on the pipe with mild sand paper to give it better bite.

i have never had any problems with pliers and I've done this atleast 5 times now.so like i said do it very easy..all the way around it.

I am with the pliers idea I did that to one of mine and I could not pull the coupler off no matter how hard I tried, also use a good size zip tie so you can put enough tension on it, like the one that is rated for 50 pounds get it as tight as you can with a nice lip on the pipe and it will not come off.

the same thing always happened with my x-terminator...like everyone else said, i flared the header, now i can't make it come of lol

i have the same problem with my hyper 7. take a hose clamp and tie that on. It'll hold it forever

flaring it is the only way to go.. or get a 1 piece pipe..

Wait a minute, my problem is the header coming off the coupler, not the tuned pipe. Anyway, is it ok to flare the header not the pipe??

Yep, same problem, same fix. It will probably be easiest if you pull the header off the engine to do it though. And, since your doing it to one, might as well do the other.

The flare helps. Most important is the hose clamp. Clean any oil off the pipes before putting on a clean piece of silicone tubing. Tighten the clamp snug, but don't overtighten. That's what rips the silicone. I have mine set up that way, and it doesn't give me any more problems.

Ok, thanks guys. Eentually I hope to get a one-piece so I don't have to worry about it, but for now I'll flare them.
