Ryan with savage
RCNT Official "Knobhead"
First off let me make one thing clear, NONE of what you are about it read is Ebay or Paypals fault. Its my fault for being stupid and far too trusting of human nature and it will not be happening again.
Myself and a friend (Phil) were out with our Savages bashing and generally having a great time tearing up some woods. Then Phil ran WOT into a large stump and managed to bend (badly) both TVPS on his Sav. End of play time.
Later on I was browsing ebay and found a pair of "Used but good condition" TVPs for a Savage with no bids on, no reserve and a starting price of £6.00 ($10.00), there were 5 days left.
Given the repair bill is likely to be pretty big (radio box, wishbones, tvps etc) on Phils savage I phoned him up, told him what I'd found and he said yeah could I bid up to £15.00 ($27.00) for him which is about 1/3 of the cost of new ones. I then said I'd bid for him next time i'm on the pc at home. (He's pc less)
I then didn't go on ebay for 5 days.......oh no....I forgot to bid.
Luckily I'd put it in my watch list and to my surprise they had not sold, not one bid, so I email the guy, explain and say look, I was going to bid up £15.00 (inc Postage) do you still want to sell them?
He emailed me back and said "yeah great, thanks for emailing etc etc" and we agreed on £14.00 (his offer not mine) and at this point It crossed my mind to say re-list them with a "buy it now" and we'll do it that way but throughtout our conversation he sounded like a decent guy and his feedback on ebay was pretty good so I didn't ask him to relist them ask It would save him listing fees etc and sent him the money via paypal.
Now I'm thinking that I'd helped Phil fix his truck cheaper and this dude has sold stuff he didn't think he could, everyones a winner.
What happens next should be of no surprise.
No TVPs have ever turned up.
I've had lots of emails "Sorry I'll post them tomorrow, I forgot" etc etc and now surprise, surprise one saying "I sent them a 10 days ago by 1st class post (1st class is 2 days), have you not got them yet?, Oh they must be lost in the post then".
Now I realise the amount of money we are talking about is very small, but the principle is the same and I really should know better than to trust people like that, I feel very very stupid and annoyed with myself. There is little or nothing I can do to get my money back and I could send lots of emails to him calling him a common thief but It wouldn't do me any good.
I am tempted to post both this guys email address's on here so rcnt-ers can ask him where Phil TVP's are......or something...
Any suggestions/comments??
