Hey fellows given the advancements in brushless technology is nitro still better than electric as far as speed reliability and costs are concerned?

I wont ever go back to nitro. Brushless, imo, is superior. Its instant power, no stall at all ever, no tuning ever, no having to buy fuel ever, off large mah you can get real long run times too. Easily made "insane" power too, I've never been "really" impressed with a nitro's power. You dont piss every one off running electric either. I'm not saying nitro's arent cool, I think they are but its all electric for me.

Nitro power has long been the standard for power and speed in this hobby, but now that brushless and Lipo are on the scene it's pretty much an even split.
I've gone electric with my boats and all but one heli, and that one is for sale.
I'll NEVER totally give up nitro, so one day I'll fire up the big Savvy.

I marvel most at the mechanical craft of a small engine (this makes me a freak).

I suppose if I was to go electric, my weed whacker engine would get more carburetor rebuilds.

Part of the hobby/sport is maintaining and caring for an engine, IMO. Electric takes away a part of it and so, makes the hobby "easier". I'm much more satisfied when it's running fuel top notch.... the noise and smoke trail would be missed, also.

Don't tell lies, Rolex. The only time that your Savage comes off the shelf is when you polish it.

I am basically getting out of nitro and going brushless/LiPo except for my Baja 5b which is gas.

Com on guys, nitro all the way, first of all i just like the smell, second the sound, and third well just speeding down the street. Who cares if neighbors get mad. Buy maybe i'll consider an electric lol.

In the neighborhood, I love the sound of somebody building something outside, cutting wood, driving nails..... but I hate the sound of leaf blowers! Soooooooooo, as long as there are leaf blowers, so there shall be NITRO!!!

My neighbors have a two seater off road go cart that makes a hell of a lot more noise than our truggy.

So, you who have gone brushless; (not that you're bald, or anything,) ....

You are replacing a fuel tank and an engine with a speed control, a motor, and a large battery pack. Would this hardware not weigh more?

Are you free of clutch issues and brake problems also, going brushless?

Electric has the ability to be faster, starts up easier, dirt doesn't stick to it as much, but if you want it fast and to run longer than a few minutes it's NOT CHEAP!

Nitro has the cool factor with the sound and smell, fuel on the go, never needs cool down time (if properly tuned), and cost less when compared to a fast electric of the same class.

I once though working on rc's was fun, now it feels like work. I rather just pick up the plug it turn it on and drive!
