ok i got my STS.28 installed and all that ,but i also have the roto-start for it ,i left the pull start on it thinking it would be best for break in ,a lot better feel i guess
is leaving the pull start on a good idea?
ok here's another 1
i have the cam type steer mod in ,i was wondering if adding a kimbrough servo saver to would be ok?
i bought the ofna linkage for the throttle mod .
i seen many pics of this done and do you bend the rod that goes to the carb or did you guys buy 1 that was pre-bent or bend the 1 that comes with the linkage
lastly ,
i am planning on running 18/49 gearing is this ok or should i go 18/47
i do not know what to expect with this motor but from what i heard it isn't as violent on the low end as the wasp was but very powerful thru-out the rpm range
thats all for now i will try to ge ta few pics when it quits raining here .
take care
rick
1 more thing i am running the silver ripple ,and have the straight HPI aluminum tuned pipe will make a difference as to which to use for break in or use what i plan to run?

Congrats on the new engine!

You should be ok with either starter. You can feel the pull start get tight if the engine starts to lock but the roto start doesn't have the power to turn it once it gets too tight or if it hydro locks.

IMO adding a servo saver will give you less steering response. the cam should work just fine.

I'm geared 17/47 with a 4.6 and it could easily go 18/47 and still have plenty of low end.

Sorry can't help with the linkage...never heard of it, what is it supposed to help??

well thr roto-start i have will not stop if it hydro-locks it is the superstart from duratrax and has twin motors and twin batteries thats what concerns me for break in ,
and good to go with the servo saver i will leave a good thing good ,the ofna throttle mod has been done by many ,part number 10724 but the linkages are all straight .
just curious if there is a bent rod to use

Haven't seen a rod for sale. You will probably have to bend it.

i bent mine.. heres a pic.

when i got it it was strait and touched the roll cage.. (not good) so i bent it.. there is a big debate on wether to go inside or outside the cage. inside and you make taking the radio cover off even harder (i dont take mine off as why i chose inside) outside and its suseptable to impact in a wreck. i just used two sets of plyers and bent it twice so it would miss the bar.

the servo saver should be fine. and 18/47 shouldnt be to high for that motor.

hope that helps.. not the best pic.

One more way of doing it. I chose to go outside the rollbar, one less bend to make. I haven't any problems so far with impacts.

The cam steering kit has a servo saver built into it. You can adjust the tension of the spring to make it tighter or looser. Too tight and it won't save the servo in an impact, too lose and your steering could get sloppy. I have mine set according to the instructions and it works fine. You don't need the kimbrough saver if you run the steering cam kit.

With the RCS cage, you have to bend it either way to get it to clear the upright. That's why I have mine on the inside and bent...

Yes, either way works with the RCS cage.

here is my setup. no bend, it just barly touches the roll bar in netral position, all other positions clear it. sry my truck in the pics is just being put back together after 2 months of being in peaces cas my tranny and clutch had there little mealt down party back in oct. :wasted:

thanx for the pics guy ,the rest of my stuff should be here tomorrow ,i noticed something else
beason you are still using the lower half of the stock servo setup
why?
i bought the 10725 (purple)
and a spare set of sliders so to use both the upper and lower

simple question i got my linkage installed and all that and i thought i had it set correctly and all that servo wise it is working good
but i used the ball stud and cup from the kit and it is hitting the rod that goes from the lever to the carb ,did i do something wrong ??

Not "wrong", but you do need to adjust it. You need to make the link from the arm to the carb shorter and then try it after resetting the home position on your server.

ahhhh,,ok i understand never gave that a thought i was playin around with the adjustment at the servo
thanx olds

Yeah, I did the same thing when I installed the 2mm du-bro rod ends. I actually had to cut some of the "tube" part off the rod end so it would thread on further without hitting the ball end that's threaded on at the carb.
