So I dug my Tmaxx out from the garage and drug it down here to college so I could get it running again in my spare time. I've got the truck running, and am fine tuning it for the colder Cleveland weather. I've got the high and low speed fuel mixture done alright for now. But when setting the idle, I read that Traxxas wants the engine to idle without any input from the servo (they say that the throttle trim on the remote should be holding the brake whilst adjusting the idle speed screw on the right side of the carb). And i mess with the screw, not knowing which direction does what honestly. And either way I spin it, it doesn't seem to make any difference. So then i give up and just adjust the throttle trim on the remote to keep it running. Which is faster and easier; Until you hit the brake and the engine stalls. Also, on a side note i can't stop my steel spur gear from slipping. It was installed shortly before the truck was stored. And i keep adjusting it to no avail. Its not skipping teeth. The gear backlash is pretty well set.
Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Stalling is why you need to set the idle without help from the servo. Turning the screw in/clockwise will increase idle speed. The best way to check is with the engine off/electronics on,pull the air filter and watch inside the carb. Adjust for aprox. a 1mm gap and make sure that when you brake it does not close up. Then you can put the filter back on,fire it up and tune from there.

For the slipping spur, how many friction pegs are installed? How did you adjust it? I adjust it by tightening it all the way and backing off 1/8-1/4 turn.

It has 6 friction pegs in it. And i just keep getting tighter and tighter on the adjustment. Still slips for no clear reason.

Should be 12 pegs. 6 on each side of spur. If they are worn out then its not gonna want to move under throttle no matter how much you tighten it. At least mine wouldnt until i changed the pegs. But i upgraded at the time to the torque control slipper upgrade. Now I've done upgraded everything since then and no longer run the black two speed w/reverse tranny.

Replaced the pegs. Apparently this thing has been used more recently than I thought because they were wore. So now its about perfect. And the engine is set to go now...until the weather warms up lol. Thanks for the pointers
