I'm still a big newbie at this, so plz bare with me.

I was using my kyosho v-one rr w/rb x12 today, and I have a few questions about some problems.

#1 - the engine would cut out after a while. I would start it again and it would run for a while before cutting out again. Is this just a tuning thing? The weather was a bit colder than the previous times I had used it.

#2 - after about 15 minutes, the brakes stopped working correctly. If i hold the car in the air, rev it and apply the brakes, it stops the wheels spinning. But when I am driving it the brakes wont work.

#3 - at about the same time the brakes started playing up, I noticed when accelerating the engine would scream a lot more, and the acceleration was less.

Could anyone offer any advice? It would be much appreciated, cheers.

sounds like a diff slipping that would explain the brakes not working well, and the motor reving high without pulling the car faster. on it cutting off give us more info on the engine. like how much fuel used, ect..

In regards to the engine cutting out, it does sound like a tuning issue. If it's colder there than usual, it makes the air more dense thus adding air to your air/fuel mix. This actually leans the mixture which can cause the engine to run hot. And when it gets hot, it is more likely to flame out. Do you have a temperature gun to check your running temps?

The brake issue sounds like brake fade. Although I'm not 100% certain what might be causing it, I'd start by checking the brake pads and disc for glazing. If you see shiny spots, rough them up with some find sandpaper or a green scrub pad and hopefully that will restore good braking power.

And lastly, check your clutch bell and shoes for wear. If your clutch is slipping, it will cause the engine to rev high without moving the car mutch. Also look for any binding in the drivetrain that might make it hard for the engine to move the car. Check your diffs (like beason said) to make sure they're smooth and aren't causing any resistance. Also check the belts and pulleys to make sure they're smooth.

Its an outside chance but you may also want to make sure your battery is fully charged. If they get weak, the servo may not be preforming properly accounting for less braking power.

Thx for the replies. I pulled apart the rear section, and this is what I found. Those four screws were all not in their holes, and so were rattling around. Also, the piece labelled is not there at all. Is this a crucial piece? The screws dont tighten at all. Could this have been the source of my problems?

it looks like just a seal.. but if your running liquid filled diffs then yea it needs to be there

I dont think they are liquid filled, the diffs just looked oiled.
