hel:)lo everyone how are u all i am getting a hpi savage 21 and i already have a hpi savage 3.5 will the parts off the savage 21 fit on to my 3.5 chassis i dnt no anything about savages but i have been told they are the same and that all parts are interchangable probs spelt wrong.lol. anyway the 21 has a 3 speed gearbox and upgraded c hubs shock towers ect all alloy will they fit on my 3.5 and also will i be able to put a traxxas 3.3 engine in my 3.5 chassis.thank you very much in advance dwayne

To us HPI guys its Sacrilegious to put a 3.3 in a Savage.

Getting past that, you will be alright, I believe the 3.3 uses std .21 mounting position & should fit right in (OMG I can't believe I just said that) & The Savage uses mostly interchangeable parts.

Cummins over at RcTech i think has you covered.

ok thank you

No Prob, Cummins is on point, and wont steer you wrong. You got his attention so you will be good, if you have any questions as you go, more specific, then post them up and you will get answers.

Don't mind me sounding like a peepee. I would run a TX 3.3 in my Savage too if I had no other choice, just to run my Savage.

So as long as your burning Nitro in a Savage, you're alright in my book.

:D That doesn't change a Traxxass 3.3 in a savy is Sacrilegious. :p:

lol ano it is bud but its only £30 so cnt go wrong i think if a better engine comes along for my bugget for a hpi savage i will buy that and keep the trx 3.3 for a spare incase anything goes wrong i am looking for a transmitter and reciever set but i can get a set with the engine ndont no what make it is but i do no its digital lol n the reviever has a built in fail safe dnont no if that makes it better or not like.lol

i am getting the grave digger shell with another savage ie the savage 21 it has a set ov wheels and tyres on it i am thinking off selling them to make a bit money to buy radio gear and a hpi or other brand engine that will fit in my savage i was thinking of making it rear wheel drive is it worth it or not? thank you

4x4 or nothing, It will run 2x4, but it sucks. I snapped a DB one session & instead of calling it quits I pulled the other DB and went 2x4, it sucked.

lol i will take ur word for it bud as i havnnt been into the hobby for long lol i have the wheels and a gt1 body shell for sale or swapz bud where can i put them up for sale or swap and how do i attach pics of them please. will also have some alloy yellow bits for swapz or sell for purple bits wanting c hubs ect.thank you

Not sure about this site for selling stuff, they may have a "for-sale" section if you look for it. www.Savage-Central.com is more savage based, what doesn't sell put up on Kijiji or fleabay.

Pics, copy the IMG code from the site you uploaded it to. Most have the codes on the side or Photobucket gives them when you put your mouse over a image in your albums. ust use the IMG code, past it and your good.

sweet bud thank you for all your help i am truely greatfull for all the advise from you and other people.thank you very much

S'all good, that's what we are here for (me at least) helping people in the Hobby, & chatting about the Hobby, whats good for the Goose is good for the Gander.

Actually it can be done, and if done right, it can be pretty fast. There's a video floating around of an LST with a Losi 3.4 in it.

what do you mean bud if its done right how do i do it so it is done right do you mean the tuning needles? could you please pm me on how to do it so its fast please.thank you

First of all, mounting the engine will be your biggest issue. You'll most likely have to fabricate the mounting plate because the ears on the small block 3.3/3.4 engines are different from the big block engines. In all reality, by the time you get done you'll have spent just as much on the materials and fabrication as you would to just drop in a Losi 454 .28, which you can find on eBay for roughly $150 US, and will drop in.

You can find quite a few engines for $130-$180 that will drop right in... Not sure what £30 is in USD.

As noted by alien13, the 3.3 will not drop in. You will need to fabricate a mount, figure out a proper flywheel/clutch/bell (as the 1/8 scale one won't fit directly either), 1/10 exhaust system and possibly alternate throttle linkage.

hi thanks i think i might just sell it or trade it as a unfinished project as i am starting to think i am going to have more monnnney in it than a brand new truck will cost over at rctech i have been offerd a axial .28 1s but i have bad reports about them nany input would be helpfull and i also need a linkage set, brake plates and brake cam bar n piston set.thank you

I don't think I'd try another axial unless it were given to me for free. Even then, I wouldn't have high hopes... I had one... once. After about a gallon, it just wouldn't tune at all, output was horrible and it ran ridiculously hot. After many hours of fussing over it, I replaced it with an LRP28.

During the first gallon, it looked very promising for the $. I even sent it to axial and they gave it back saying there wasn't anything wrong with it, but they replaced the front bearing anyway. Still was a POS.

ok thank you for that i will stay well clear of them engines then lol and i have been looking for one of them lrp engines but can't seem to find any my limit is around $80 including shipping or if i could get a full savage i would pay around $100 to $200 including shipping if poss or cheap as poss i was thinking of converting the 3.5 to brushless and getting an other hpi savage with a k5.9 engine or if i cn get a cheap k5.9 i will buy it if its in my bugget that is.lol. thank you

I would save up and buy a reputable engine that's new. Engines are one of those things I no longer try to find the "best deal" possible by going with used or brand I don't know.

Save up $200 for the engine and buy something new in the $150-$200 range and you will be far happier with the end result.
