I've read that allot of guys have put the OFNA 9.5 buggy shocks on a maxx. I'd like to do the same, but i don't want to find out the hard way that it's more effort than it's worth or that i'm missing parts to do it.

Anyone have full install instructions?

i run them on my supermaxx and i love them. they work great. i do not have hte instructions tho. they are not hard to put on

Do you have a link for them? I've been having a hard time finding the shocks as a whole. I can find parts for them, but not the entire shock bundle.

i bought mine off of ebay for $50 for all eight!!!! but i do not have a link

i had some on my t-maxx they are really nice shocks.......keep in mind though if you use them with the stock a-arms and stock shock towers they are to long

....meaning even at the most angle you can get them your shock will compress all the way before your truck frame bottoms out ....this isnt good..........

i was using them with the stock a-arms and the ULIMITED knuckle head shock towers which gives you more mounting holes.......but even with them my shocks compressed before the truck frame bottomed out........

.the best way to use them is to get the kuckle head towers and some a-arms that have the mounting holes at the same level as the arm it self and not above the arm like the stock a-arm does......

you could use some rubber pices on the shock shaft to keep the shock from bottoming out but if you dont they will end up leaking as the upper blatter will collapse:constipat

i use them with the whole UE widetrack suspension and they are great. as u said they are too long for the stock suspension arms on the oldermaxx

What about on the newer 2.5 maxx? Are they still to long?

Sorry, i should have said that in the beginning.

I have a XTM converted 21 maxx that was a 2.5 maxx. I hated that 2.5 engine.

hello well mine was the newer sport maxx and they were to long

them ulimited enginerring super shocks do come with a spacer to put inside the shock that would make them a bit shorter I'm sure they would work great then........he also includes a bunch of springs and extra parts probly the best deal you will find on shocks......with the knuckle head shock towers the stock a-arms and either a piece of tubing on the outside of the shaft or using the spacer on the inside these shocks would be great I'm sure

I'd probably be replacing shock towers all the time if the chassis didnt bottom out. I do have a 3/32" steel skid that i made, that adds a little on the bottom. Plus the RPM skid protector on top of that. So, i've probably got 1/4" extra material under my truck. How much to long are they?

Thanks.

with using the knuckle head towers and by using the upper most inner mounting hole.....................and using the stock a-arms most outer hole they were just long enough to bottom out before the chassis did..maybe a quarter to long...............that was with using stock rims and proline bowtie tires..........I'm thinking maybe if you was to use rims that extend out doesn't thismake the truck lower? if so then they might would work perfect with offset rims...I'm going to try and send you a picture on how i got them to work with some a-arms i bought off ebay i made my own mounting hole

with the extra 1/4 you got they should work too

if your interested in seeing a picture send me a email so i can send you two pictures back my email is [email protected]

i was running a smaller maxx if your running 4 shocks with the .21 motor you can use the blue springs in the rear and the reds in the front with 60 weight.........if you buy eight shocks you can use probly 35 to 40 weight same springs

Right now i'm running 8 stock (ultra) shocks with 4 trinity black on the rear and 2 trinity black and 2 stock orange on the front. The oil is whatever came in them.

Are these the shocks for that site or are the 9.5 buggy shocks? Or are they two of the same?

Thanks for the help. I hate making expensive mistakes.

the super shocks are made by ofna but ulimited put his own kit together i think there the same as the rear shocks for the 9.5...but ulimited you get special made spring sets and a bunch of extra parts heres the link to ulimited engineering http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/

Actually, from what i've read, guys use the front shocks off the 9.5. They are probably shorter.

I checked the link. I don't know if i want a alum shock tower. I have al bulks. I would like to have a breaking point other than snapping the truck in half. But i did notice that they sold the shocks seperate. I'll look into it more when i come up with a couple hundred bucks to blow.

I saw what you did in your pic's. Did doing that make them bottom out still? Or did the bottom of the truck touch ground first?

if you notice on the a-arms i made my own mounting hole.......this gave me plenty of adjustment on the knuckle head shock towers to get any ride height i wanted.......the way i had it set up in the picture the truck bottomed out before the shocks......the other thing that the ulimited shocks come with is he made some special shock spacers for the top being the stock spacers wont work with the super shocks or ofna as the hole is bigger

if you get bored read this page it tells you more about the super shock version http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/cgi-bin/store/10120.html

I've drilled my stock ones out. Can't remember how big. But i used 1/8" stainless stell rod and drilled a hole straight through my shock towers. With this, i added 1/8" collars on both sides to hold stuff together. I made my own standoffs out of smaller collars. That's why i had to drill out my stock shocks. I couldn't get a smaller collar to work. This way, i pull off the collar on the rear side, slide out the rod, and i can take my shocks off the truck without removing the shock towers.

the ones on the site that he gave u are the UE supershocks. they are almost the same shocks. but UE has a few other things i think that are different like th rods?
