All I can seem to find in the 550 sized motors are motors based on torque. Does anyone know of a 550 sized motor that is geared towards higher RPM's? Maybe something in the 21,000 + RPM range? (BTW, anything but the Monster Maxx Pro motor)

Also, does anyone know if a 600 sized motor is much larger than a 550? I'm guessing yes, but not really sure as I'm just getting into the electric part of the hobby.

Hmm....sure haven't. I didn't know you could get a brushless motor that size. That's something I haven't thought about, but I'm sure it'd be more than I'm willing to spend since I just bought a new ESC and all.
Thanks for the idea, but I think brushless is beyond my budget right now.
Any ideas on brushed motors?

GilBeQuick - if I have been following your threads, much of what you're researching has to do with you boat. If so, I'm throwing some "boat" stuff (links), your way. Hope this helps with your questions/problems.

Here's a great "do it yourself" cooling coil for the motor

Here's a motor chart from Graupner Motors. Shows RPM's and all kinds of data for their various motors.

EP mentioned brushless motors and that might be the way to go.
Brushless motors are better in just about every way over conventional brushed motors except for the price. And they usually require a special ESC to run them. Anyways, the link below demonstrates your RPM needs. Look at the RPM per volt data on the MINI AC1215/16. It's 3800 RPMs per volt. If you run a 7 cell pack that would be 8.4 volts X 3800 RPMs per volt = 31920.
I'm not suggesting one of these motors, they are nice, but to show you the amount of power these little brushless motors can produce.

MM, you are a wealth of electric knowledge!

Yes, this is all for the new boat. I'm completely hooked on this thing. Maybe because it's the newest toy, I don't know, but I know right now the boat is just flat out fun as hell to take out. It's also pretty relaxing- the other day it was about 80°. I went out to a local pond and sat under a tree in the shade and just watched the boat carve up the water. That was probably the most laid back, carefree time I've ever had with any RC. You can have the throttle nailed, kick the thing full tilt to either side and it'll turn in about a 1 to a 1 1/2 foot radius!

Thanks a lot for all of the helpfull info, you've been a great resource.

BTW, the second link isn't working.
