Well, I won one of these off ebay ($9) for my slayer/now revo with the intent of running it with my OS18TM. I was curious, do guys drill this pipe out as well like we used to with the old stock blue revo pipe?

I didn't think to look, but the old blue stock pipe was a dual chamber as well... mine was pretty beatup/flattened a bit from when I used it back in the day. I notice this one seems a bit thicker/fatter than the old pipe. Hope it lets the 18TM breath well.

Still kicking myself for selling the OS header and fantom works pipe along with my roller so long ago... should have included the stock pipe and kept that setup in a drawer!

Figured someone would have at least ran it to give a thumbs up or down.

Here's a comparison of the two:

It's a bit fatter/thicker (can't tell since my old one is a bit smashed) and maybe a hair longer overall. The ID of the stinger is definitely smaller... but since the one is drilled out, I'm not sure how much smaller than stock it was. The original was also a two chamber... seems that TRX chromed it and gave the it a new name... bummer. Can't complain too much... only cost me $11 shipped anyway (just checked what I paid).

Hey olds, since i ordered a ths pipe and header for mine i figured i would try it on my stock resonater and it basically performed a little better off the bottom end but didnt have enough room on the street to do wot passes. it seems to be exactly like the blue pipe i originally did it to. so my opinion is if you did it to the blue one and like the difference go ahead and do it to the resonater. like i said i saw some improvement. hope this helps ya. also i will get a pic of them both in stock form so you can see the stock difference i just need a few mins to find them both and then the camera. the wife doesn't allow me to use the camera because i have broken almost every camera we have owned. lol

ok i just looked at them both stock they are pretty close to the same i.d. so i would say drill it!!!:)

I agree that the resonater performs well as is but i always have to try the mods i read about on here lol:D

I wasn't going to mess with it at first, was just curious what people experienced.

Since I bought my slayer as a roller, it came without a pipe/header/engine, so I just used what I had laying around.

Well, the 5493 is a dud with the OS18TM. Or my OS is dead... it has good compression and runs really good though.

At first, I was running wide ratio gears and traxxas clutch with 40/14 gearing and 17mm revo tires/wheels. It was a dog.

So, then I tore the trans out and replaced the gears with close ratio gears and a 3 shoe 1/8 scale clutch/flywheel, but I stuck with the 40/14 gearing, since I had a 14T 1/8 bell laying around. It ran much better, but not what I remember when I ran it in a revo back in the day with a fantom pipe and I'd guess that I was running 14/40 or 14/38 with standard ratio trans back then. It would wheelie on command and that was with a 3.3 chassis.

So, since I had a 13T bell, I just swapped it out and now running 40/13 gearing. Then I drilled out the pipe.

If that doesn't get it done... I do have a big block conversion laying here... lol I'd really like to keep it a small block though. Nice to not burn through so much fuel and the extra weight of the BB just bends the chassis on landings when getting decent air.
