This is my first post on ths forum, so I would like to start by saying hello to everyone.

I am a newbie with nitro cars, but have done a lot of research over the last few months. I have a NTC3 with a NS12S3 engine, "The Chassis" and a few other mods.

I have a question about the 50/50 weight ratio from the left to right side of the car. I noticed that the side with the engine is heavier, which is causing the steering to be off. During full acceleration my car starts doing 360's. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and what they did to fix it.

this is a common problem with all shaft drive cars, but ecspecially with the NTC3. You can solve this problem by doing two things.

1. tighten the rear shock spring on the opposite side that the car is pulling. IE - if it spins out to the right, tighten the left rear shock.

2. set your EPA on your TX about 10% higher when turning to the right, this will help compensate for the added weight.

BTW - WELCOME TO RCNT!!!!

Nitroaddict,

Thanks for the advice. Another solution I heard is to add weight to the lighter side to compensate. I really don't want to add weight to the car. Is this a comon practice? I know the XXXMain tuning guide says to try and get the weight ratios as close as possible side to side and front to back.

adding weight should be an absolute last resort. instead of adding weight, move the weight around on the car by adjusting the suspension geometery, such as the shock adjustments i mentioned. Tell me what your current setup is, and I will help you adjust that too.

I bought the car as a RTR, so everything is pretty much setup to the way it came (camber, toe, and ride height adjustments). I have added the threaded shock kit to the car and adjusted them. If you give me some specifics, I can give you more detail. Sorry for the lack of information, I am still a :n00bie:

no prob. for the surface you are running on, here is a good setup.

Front Toe: 1 degree toe in
Rear Toe: 2 degree toe in
camber: 2degrees negative all around
castor: stock setting
droop: 3mm
ride height: 5.5mm

set the rear shocks as loose as you can with out the car bottoming out. set the front as tight as you can, then back them out 2 full turns.

that is a great bashing setup for most conditions.

Nitroaddict,

thanks for all the help. I just wish it wasn't getting dark at 5:00 here. I hate having to wait until the weekend to test everything out!

yeah, same way here bro. good thing we have lights at all the tracks here in orlando, so its not a problem for us

Darn this daylight savings crap. Get off work, do some house work and it's already dark. Can't even run the R/C... I did some modifying to my MT in the garage, but can't test it at full throttle. I just ran it around in the garage. Rain doesn't help either.

3. Hardcore sent along some trick aluminum golf tees so we could demonstrate how well balanced the chassis is. The tips of the golf tees are resting in the dimples at the front and rear of the chassis.

I read that article. That was really when I started to wonder if I should try and get the balance right. I don't see how they got the car so balanced.

That was pertty insteresting, I was thinking it was a trick. anybody think that chassie is woth it? My car had a little accident at the track and i need to replace it. is there really any difference in it. really.:write:

Shadey,

I actually bought The Chassis instead of the Hardcore Racing one. The Chassis eliminates the upper deck, so the car is a little bit lighter and gives the car a lower center of gravity. But, my car isn't as balanced as the Hardcore one. That is pretty impressive. For me it was between the HardCore chassis and The Chasssis. I don't really know if it is worth spending the money.

nevermind I had a brain fart. THought you didn't have the threaded shocks.
