Man....I have a big decision to make and it's confusing me. I am pretty new with nitro RC cars. 2 weeks ago I just found out that there is a hobby shop that is is only 3 miles from where I live (anahiem, california). So last week I just bough the TMAXX 2.5 for $276.99 dollars. But I never like monster trucks anyway. So I am looking for an on road car. At the hobby shop they said they are going to have the Traxxas 4 TEC witht the 2.5 engine by the 1st week of December for around $299.99. Right now they have the Schumacher Fusion for $349.99 with the .21 ABC Pro big block engine (Thunder Tiger PRO .21R). I have read that a lot of people like the 4TEC, so I am having a hard time getting a right decision. Can someone plz give me some advice on which one I should get. I am look for speed and some easy to work with cuz I am new to nitro RC. I haven't even break in the TMAXX yet cuz it's been raining in CA for 4 days already. So my options is the Traxxas 4TEC with 2.5 engine or the Schumacher Fusion with Thunder Tiger PRO .21R engine.
Thx, Castrol

I would go for the 4-tec. In my opinion thunder tiger does not have a very good engine weather it's car or plane. See if you can get your hands on an HPI Evolution. That engine will kick ass.

HELLO CHAPS, I HAVE SEEN THE SCHUMACHER FUSION .21(3.5CC)1/10TH TOURING CAR DEVELOPMENT, OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS AND IT FLIES..
MY LOCAL TRACK IN DERBYSHIRE, ENGLAND WAS THE PLACE AND THE CAR CANNOT REACH TOP SPEED AS THE TRACK IS TOO SHORT. I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE OTHER CAR BUT THERE WOULD ONLY BE ONE CHOICE FOR ME..........
1/10TH SCALE AND THIS SIZE ENGINE AND 3 SPEED TRANSMISSION - THATS AN AWESOME COMBINATION IF YOU ASK ME ?

Just saw the review on the Fusion in RCCA. It's a sweet car. It's fast. Said they hit just under 75 out of the box. But they also said that's not going to do you much good on a track. Not sure how racey it really is. Would be mint in a drag. I guess the choice boils down to what you want to do. Are you going to just bash in parking lots? Are you going to race? In Anaheim, I would guess you're talking about either Ultimate Hobbies or California RC Center. If you're going to race, I would go out on raceday and see what most are driving. See what kinds of parts and hop-ups the shop carries. Support is everything. The 4-tec is a good car, but there's not a lot of stuff out there to beef it up. It's not really a competition car. I own an HPI Nitro RS4 3. I like it. But frankly, if I were going to race, I'd be all over the Associated Nitro TC3. Just my opinion. I really think the best bet is to see what flies at the local track and work from there....

OMG CAR GOD Thunder tiger has amazing engines.. i have a thunder tiget buggy and with one speed that buggy hits 65mph+ and thats with the same motor as the nitro fusion but id go with the nitro fusion faster is funner!

HELLO CHAPS,

SCHUMACHER FUSION..........WHATS LEGAL TO RACE OVER IN THE U.S.A?

IN BRITAIN ITS .12 (2.1CC), RUBBER TYRES, 4WD, MANY LIMITED ENGINE SPECS, ETC........
PITY THE SCHUIE FUSION .21(3.5CC) IS LIMITED TO RACING SCHUMACHER SERIES RACES ONLY.IF IT WAS ALLOWED TO RACE ANY 1/10TH IT WOULD KICK ASS.......BIG TIME.
I`M RACING A 1/10TH MUGEN MTX2 AND ITS OK AS IT FITS THE BRITISH .12(2.1CC) CHAMPIONSHIPS (BRCA RUBBER).
THE FUSION IS GOING TO BE IN THE RUBBER BRCA 1/10TH .12(2.1CC),WITH THE ROSSI PIXY ENGINE - FOR THE NATIONALS NEXT YEAR SO I RECKON IT WILL BE IN THE TOP 5 CARS IN THE BRCA CHAMPIONSHIPS , IF IT DON`T WIN ANYTHING I WILL BE VERY SURPRISED...!!!!!!!!!
THE .21 FUSION WATCH THIS SPACE !!!!!!!!!
IS THE .12 VERSION AVAILABLE IN THE US YET?
COMES OUT IN FEB IN THE UK.

Thats cool jason but I've never really had much luck with thunder tiger, But most tiger i deal with is in airplanes.

Your going 65mph ina 1/8 buggy or a 1/10 buggy?. Can you video tape that so we can see a THUNDER TIGER GO THAT FAST. I could have saved hundreds of dollars on the past 4 motor I bought. Starting with the first one that was $450.00 NOVAMEGA 21 TURBO M.S. If that motor can out RPM I will give my all my cars away.

if i could video tape it i would.. i dont have a digital video camera.. i got a digital camera and a video camera but neither take videos...

Can you explian why you have a video camera that can't take videos. That has me perplexed. X

The 4-tec is a older chassis, they just recently upgraded the engine. I haven't heard anything bad about the Fusion, it it will be very cool hearing 3 gears shifting....:)

The fusion is a monster. If you are new to the hobby, I do not suggest this car. If you lose the signal and you dont have a fail safe or you just lose control, you and either going have a car in a bunch of pieces and you will have to replace a bunch of parts (last I checked, parts around here are hard to find) or, if you get lucky, you will crash into a pile of pillows.

The 4tec has parts a plenty, something to consider when buying a kit. I have a yokomo GT4 and I would not have bought it if I didnt find my LHS that has all kinds of parts for that car.

What Shop are you going to in Anahiem? Ultimate? I am always on the lookout for new shops. If you ever get out to Covina, go to Elite Hobbys. Great support!!!!!

MJ

I agree, Elite hobby have very great support, everyone is willing to help you. Have you been to TCP or something like that in Arcadia? One of the hobby shop that has ok service is Massie(temple city) and Hobby people(pasadena). Also Speedtech Rc in Walnut also have good service and support, I almost left speedtech out...:bling:

I have been to TCI in Arcadia. Their prices are a little high, but if you get their preassembled kits, the prices are killer. Hobby People is OK if you know what you want. Just go in, get what you want, then leave. Never been to Massie and never been to Speedtech, but ordered from them online a million times.

Where in Cali are you from Akina'sMtx-2? I dont do a lot of racing, but we do a lot of parking lot bashing. Mostly at the Rose Bowl on the weekend at about 3pm. You should come out some time if its not too far.

MJ

Kewl!!!

Man...I did not get the fusion. But instead I got a 4 Tec and a NTC3. :) thx guys for your input, but the only reason I did not get the fusion because it does not have a lot of replacement parts. As for the NTC3, I broke so many thing off of it, and I got the replacement within 30 minutes. So am really happy with the NTC3. As for the 4tec, I haven't broke anything yet, so I don't know about the parts support. Does anyone know where I can get parts for the Fusion if I do decide to get it? Thx. I might post a picture of my car if I know how to post it. Hehe!

Oh yea, I live in Garden Grove, maybe 10 mins away from disneyland. So far, I have only gone to 2 nitro car raceways but have not involve in any races because I don't think I can win. Those racers are just too good and too fast for my little NTC3. :depress: Maybe one day soon I might have the courage to race (hopefully!). Kewl!

The NTC3 is a awesome platform to start racing. Check out some of the tracks and run on a slow day for practice. You will get hooked. I like to run on tracks for fun, but I am not a very competitive person so I would rather bash in a parkinglot with a bunch of people and break a few parts:cheers:

I think you are right. I should just practice. Maybe some backyard rumble wouldn't be so bad. Thx mjime

I'm from Rosemead, will..... use to live there. I now moved to Fresno, about 4 hr from LA, central cali. I still go back to Rosemead every now and then, I usually stay there during summer. My 2 oldest brother still live there. My parents are thinking about moving back, it don't matter to me. This summer, I'm planing to run my car at Crystal park with someone that also run Mugen's.
