has anyone with the lst or lst2 ever have a problem with the 4 wheel drive popping out, the differentials have a lot of play and pull the drive shafts out by the trans

It's really close on the front one to almost falling out all the time, but if everything is ok on the truck, it won't.

If yours is popping out at all, you either have wear issues or your chassis is tweaked.

There are a few wear items that cause the clearance to be enough to where it will fall out. The little diff hanger can wear/crack, which allows the diff to flop around. The cup itself on the trans wears, the ears on the dog-bone wear, the CV joint wears. Any of those can cause a sloppy fit which will be prone to falling out.

That in mind, I've run probably about 8+ gallons through my aftershock (similar core to the LST1, LST2...) and the only time my front center fell out of the cup was when I broke the chassis rails. My diffs, diff hangers, center cvd's, trans cups are all original. So it takes quite a bit of time for wear to cause a problem.

I'd suspect more that you have cracked chassis rails, cracked bulkheads, busted diff hanger or just stripped out screw holes holding things together.

I broke my chassis rails 3-4 times since I got it over a year ago. Very frustrating to replace... but is really the only solution to a broken part.

On a side note, I've never had the rear center pop out yet.

If you're losing both are you sure that you have the portion of the front and back bulkheads in place that lock the diff in place towards the transmission?
Here is a pic of the part in the parts explosion

helpful

thank you both, you both were in the right direction the plastic peices that hold the differentials down both broke causing so much play... this is my first time using the forum and it was very helpful...... do they make a stronger hanger?

I'm not sure really what it's called, but I call it a hanger. I think it's called a diff collar or diff support.

Anyway, hot racing has one: http://www.liquidrc.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=37714

At liquid RC's $1 shipping... it's a pretty good deal. I've bought a few things there. They use snail mail (USPS), but I haven't had a problem yet with receiving any of my parts.

EDIT:
I thought they used to be around $10. Guess prices are up a bit these days with fuel costs and whatnot.

thanks again I'm starting to really like this forum so much usefull information. i think the metal one might be the way to go with them
