Could anybody give me some info on this setup, I want to do it to my savage, but don't know what shocks to use or if I need to change suspension arms. I need to order them ASAP so I can race this weekend.thanks

You will need 1/8 buggy shocks, and a Nova rc shock tower or some upper a-arms w/ mounts for the shocks on them.

Anyone have any pictures of the setup on there truck? Nova is out of stock

Would this be recomended for heavy bashing. I plan on getting mugen shocks(do i have to order all rear shocks)with kyosho white springs. What weight oil should i use and is this a good idea?

Sory for stealing your thread but i just about to start another one like this

I wouldn't really reccomed it for bashing w/o K3 shocks. Yes you would need rear shocks all around. And I would use something like 80 wt. oil or something?

What weight oil would you recommend for racing with the 4 shock set up?

The K3 rears are still to short compared to the stock savage shocks

Try Looking for UE shocks

dude those are huge!! Will they fit?

I am sure it would take a little modding to get them to fit. Dunno but I bet on a Maxx or Sav that would be a great 4 shock setup. Almost makes me want to buy a bunch of stuff to test it but I got to save my pennies for a Revo..........

I run 4 supermaxx shocks on both my savage and my maxx. On my savage, I'm using new era's al upper arms that allow the use of maxx shocks on a savage. I don't race, only bash. Both trucks hold up really well. Way better than 8 stock shocks on either truck.

With the supermaxx shocks on my savage, I ran 65 wieght oil with 2 hole pistons... after a few really hard jumps (10-15 feet high), I broke 2 shock pistons. I dropped my oil weight down to 50 and it's perfect.

I bought my supermaxx shocks at the hobbyshopnj site and the upper arms at http://www.neweramodels.com/

I didn't use the rubber shaft protectors that came with them, I used to, but they got tore up. I bought shock sox off a friend and I use those now instead.

Here's a few shots of them installed:

Here's a shot of them on my maxx by the savage just for reference sake:

Thanks Olds. Do you think 50 weight wood be good for racing? Or do you think lighter?

Sorry man, I don't race. I guess it depends on the track. If your on a real "jumpy" track, run the UE Blue in the front and UE Black springs with 40. If it's more of a concourse track (mostly driving around), i'd go with the 45-50 and UE Blue springs in the rear and UE white in the front for better traction.

Like I said though, I don't race, so I don't know what "racers" look for. I just know I run through a lot of different terrain running UE black all around and 55 weight. I should probably lighten the oil to 45, but I don't feel like buying any.

Thanks again I will try the first one out that sounds good. I can't wait for the stuff to get here.

I set my truck up with 4 Integy shocks with HPI Purple stiff springs and they do good for me with no problems. I have jumped normal racing style with them with no problems. I use 55wt oil in them. Here are a couple shots of how I set the truck up for different purposes.

Slammed low to the ground with less than an inch ground clearance but still has suspension ability. I use this for street racing which helps for less chances of rolling over.

Arms level to ground. Useful for all around terrain and still handles good with less rollover. I recommend keeping the arms level straight across when racing.

Center of gravity raised but can still go higher. Not good for racing as you will rollover. Poor on road handling. Great for jumps as you can use the full ability of shock for rebound.

Either way you choose, it depends on what you plan on doing with your truck. Single shocks are prone for more suspension damage as we all know that the Savage is pretty heavy as is. If you want the center of gravity to be lower, you can always just use softer springs and still run with eight shocks.

I ran Mugen MBX rear shocks with Kyosho White springs and the New Era arms on my Savage. I ran 60wt silicone for a bit, and then went to a lower wt (30-35.) It was a pure basher and handled everything I threw at it and more.

Here's a topless shot.

You can peruse my gallery for shots of this thing in action. Believe me the set up can handle abuse.
