30.5 sounds lean only on cold start

I have a losi 5IVE B with a 30.5 engine and when I first start it when its cold engine has high idle. I don’t have an air leak and carb has been replaced if I back out the low needle when cold the idle drops but then when it gets hot it loads up quickly and wants to stall out. I sprayed around with carb cleaner and can’t find any leaks. I’m going to smoke test it at my work tomorrow. You guys have any other ideas? Thanks

Does the idle come down after it warms up?

Yes. I think because the 990 has no choke I’m not priming it enough before starting it. When I put my hand over the carb and do one slow pull it doesn’t do it. Starts right up nice and low idle. It’s a reed case engine.

That’s what nitro motors do. They idle high when first started up if you don’t heat it.

This is within reason of course. And, I’m sure you are within reason or you’d be asking why your rc car tries to run off when you start it up.
