How many tanks do you have through it? If your still in the first few tanks in the break in, it may not rev enough to shift yet anyway.

It only hurts it if you run it WOT a lot in first gear and overrev the engine.
 
Give it a few more tanks. There's about 25 tanks in a gallon (150cc tanks), odds are your going to go through half a gallon before the engine fully seats, so you have a ways to go before you should really rip it.
