I bought a 3.3. For my tmaxx. It came with a pullstart. Will it still drop in if i use
An EZStart? can't keep it running. I adjusted carb to 1mm aprox. Small paperclip. And
It took off under neighbors car. It still had glow driver in it. Snapped the top off. Duct
Tape lol.. Anyway i have new toys to make noise!!!!

Its hard starting. When it does start as soon as i bump the throttle it dies. After a few attempts it will
Run ok. On tank 3 now. It has been cold that could be the problem. Also it floods alot. Any clues.

Sounds overly rich. How cold is it? If it's below 50F, it would probably be a good idea to preheat the engine to at least 80F before trying to start. Also wrapping the head with a sock or tin foil to help retain heat would be a good idea as well.

I will try heating engine. Thanks. Are factory settings the same for a 3.3 as they ate for a 2.5?.

No. Adjusted needles to factory specs. my hsn was almost 5 turns out. That explaines the flooding.
2 pulls and we fired up. Cooling now. Tank 4 after post.

Was the engine used or new? If it was new, you may have damaged it badly with no break in. :(

I did the first couple tanks. Yesterday wasn't that cold. Trying to keep around250- 270max temp. On tank 6. I will do a little fine tuning after work.

If it's "not that cold" in PA, I have to assume you mean about 40-50°f. In that weather with an uncovered head you shouldn't see over 200°f.

Temps down around 220-230 range. I shut down by choking exhaust. I went in to check carb gap
And noticed the carb was gargling filling with fuel. I always have to drain motor before starting. Why?

Because when you plugged off the exhaust it put more pressure on your tank and filled the engine with fuel and then stalled it out because the exhaust gas had no where to go. You would be better off to pinch the fuel line and stop the flow and let it stall out.

Yep^^. Pinching the exhaust can cause a little excess fuel to enter the carb during shut-down. By pinching the fuel supply you are letting the engine burn off the last of the methanol rather than adding more to it. Methanol is what attracts moisture and is the reason for engine after-run procedures. By reducing the amount of methanol in the engine while it sits you are reducing the possibility of corrosion forming inside the engine.

Thanks that makes sense. I took my tmaxx out today to get a good tune after breaking in new 3.3.
Needs work. After warming up took spin checked temps 235. Not bad. Did a couple of wot passes
Leaned hsn a bump. Another wot pass ran good. Then it idled down as it should but would not stop
Moving forward. is my fwd trany clutch stuk? Any ideas before i rip out tranny

So it can't disengauge. Well i did break in 3.3.
over a two day period and ran 3 more tanks. I ran it pretty good
Yesterday. I guess its time to fix something. Ill take out tranny today and let u know.
Thanks.

No tranny yet, start with the clutch. And when you buy clutch springs, get several of them.
