Hey all,
I've aquired pretty much a whole entire disassembled revo 3.3 I am going to start putting it all together real soon. My question is what needs to be lubed and with what. The tranny is fully dismantled and I have all the pieces. I know that it is a dry system. But do I need to put any sort of graphite or bearing grease anywhere? I see on the Traxxas documents that there is one gear that they say to put a light coating of automotive grease on. Is that all the tranny needs?

And if there are any other spots on the truck that should have any kind of lube could you let me know. I have no fear of putting this whole thing together, I just want to make sure everything is done right and will work.

Thanks,
Chris

That should do it.....you may want ot pick uop some Dry Ice from FastEddy to do the bearings with. that black grease that you can get at the hobby store works well where thay call for it.

Good Luck on the build!!!

so only the one gear needs a light coating of grease? I have a complete set of sealed bearings for the truck. So the bearings should be good. I'm just shocked the the tranny only needs one gear to be greased.

Also on the differential, how much oil goes in it? Does it get filled to the brim, or just to the top of the gear?

check the diff rebuild docs on Traxxas website....I believe it is just over the gear....but verify that....have not built one in a bit.

Would it hurt putting grease into the tranny. I don't see why it would.

Actually I belive the reason that you do not put alot of grease on the gears is because it can actually create a small amount of friction, or drag if you will. It may not be much, but remember, these are plastic gears in the tranny, and heat is the enemy! So stick with the very light amount on the one gear. I have played with my T-maxx & Revo 3.3 trannys gear ratios etc, and have never lubed them up and have had no problems. Good luck
