looking to upgrade my 2.5 to a 3.3, pros and cons? upgrade servo too?
great upgrade. You can drop the 3.3 right in the 2.5, but eventually you will be chasing parts. New tranny, Diffs, and stuff. I've heard of a few people having no probs at all. But I would beware as the 3.3 engine is an unreal engine. You will break stock 2.5 parts. As far as the servo, you should be good to go. Someone else will pop in here and tell ya more I'm sure. Good luck!!!

I think it's a good move... then all you will have to upgrade is your self controll and stop hiting things!!!

I upgraded my 2.5 to a 3.3 and didnt have problems but ended up spending to much time on ebay and eventually changed everything haha but at least it was fun.

I did the same thing and it was a great upgrade. Never had a problem breaking parts. Now I have the.26 Picco and now I should stock as much as a hobby shop...lol

Recently did the upgrade on my brother's old 2.5...the one thing that bugs me about it is the brakes, although the t-maxx brakes have never been great in my experiences. Other than that tho...paired with the resonator exhaust, this thing is a beast! Instant wheelies, and a total blast to drive! But I can definitely see tranny/diff upgrades in the future...

An foc takes care of the tranny. The best thing to do when upgrading to a 3.3 in a stock 2.5 is a slipper update. Run the RRP or the new style Trx slipper so you can set it properly. A good slipper adjustment is the easiest way to keep a drivetrain together. The old peg-style slipper just isn't up to the task. Lock it or melt it.:)

You might wanna upgrade the rear axles. I did this upgrade to my neighbor's t-maxx 2.5 and he twisted two sets of rear axels. Of course his had a spool in the rear end so thst may have had something to do with it

I only say quit hitting things cause the last thing he hit was me wile I was pi$$ing. made me pee on myself a bit but broke a pin in the tranny when he rolled into the tree next to me!

The locker had everything to do with it. It's also why the truck doesn't want to turn.:)

awesome responces I just ordered a 3.3 as well, n after seeing what ppl say even more ampd now

i have a new question now what crankshaft do i use the standard or short one? and will i need any parts off the previous motor?

You'll use everything that's external off of the old engine. Flywheel, clutch, pipe, ect... I'd pick up a nice clutch while your waiting for your new mill. At least a new Trx clutch. Seal the engine first thing to save future headaches and follow the Trx break in instructions. My buddy's 3.3 has been a great mill.

alrighty now since I'm still new with all this how do i know what shaft to use? as i bought my tmaxx with a n O.S motor?
