3.3 cracked block

So I was having a little too much fun at the skate park and ended up cracking the block on my 1gal old 3.3

Now I am trying to figure out what I should do. I was thinking of just dropping in a dynamite or other fairly cheap aftermarket engine that was somewhere in the $100 range. I am also considering just buying a new 3.3 crankcase for $25 and ordering a set of Boca bearings for $30 for a total of about 60-65 with shipping.

Is it safe to assume the internals of the engine are ok? It was still running but was making a strange noise (which I later discovered was the huge crack in the side of the block). I did start it on the bench before I discovered the crack and it seems to run just fine.

Given these two options which would be the better route? Please give any and all advice you may have on any option. I really dont want to drop the money for a BB or a nice os/picco engine at this time.


BTW other carnage included upper and lower rear a-arm/ broken shock shaft/ and yet another motor mount (my third in two months)

Thats kind of what I figured since it was still running and actually refired before I figured out what the "noise" was.

Well after a little reading I think I am just going to get a new 3.3 crankcase and a set of ceramic boca bearings.

I really hate the looks and added weight of a rollcage but at this point I think it is going to be a must for the way I want to run this revo. I was looking at the RC-solutions cage but not sure if it is worth the $100 or not.

The RC Solutions cage is definitely worth the money. They used to have a picture of a Suburban parked on a Savage with one of their roll cages.

I would buy a new block with bearings off ebay for 20 bucks.

Ceramic bearings are an absolute waste of money for your situation.

you dont by chance live in australia do you?

id sell you the one i made up. wont fit with the new lrp28 motor on so i have to make a new one.

i made it so that it 2 bolts go into the original roll bar holes and then the two screws that hold the diff casing to the chassis hold the back on. its pretty still.
