Me and Lil Andretti spent the day at the track yesterday (rc track). We had done some upgrades and were anxious to see how they worked out. We put on the Response tires. We put 55 oil in the shocks. Moved the front arm thingies to their outer most position and left the back on center. Put a better throttle servo on. When we got to the track, Corey noticed that there was oil on the frame bottom (never a good thing).I figured I didn't tighten a shock or something. So off come the 2 rears. One has a bad o-ring. Put it all back together, doesn't look right. The owner looked at it and informed me I had the rear shocks on backwards. No wonder they were SO FREAKIN HARD to put on! Got that straightened out just in time for the 1st qualify. Last week his times were pretty consistent at 40 second laps. Yesterday he was doing 34 with a 33 average in the 15 min race!! And best of all....We didn't break anything!!!! The car handled awesome.

Tell him I said congratulations. How are you liking the tires? I think I'm getting ready to order some for the Revo, so I was wondering if there's anything I should know about.

The tires make a BIG difference. It lowers the car and gives it a lot more grab on the clay track.

What wheels are you running? Also, has Corey gotten a wing yet for his Revo? I just ordered the Tekno adjustable wing mount kit for mine. The wing will also act like a wheelie bar and keep the front end from outrunning the back end in those sticky situations.

Thats great.Sounds like you did the right adjustments as well.I am really loving this racing. My family and friends are pit crew and we are having a great time.Keep it up Lil Andretti!

What track are you running? Do you have any pics or video?

The 2 things I love the most about this thread:

1) Nitro Newb called them 'front arm thingys' - I have no idea what they are called either, it's nice to someone else admit it too.

2) He's sharing something with his kid that will make a difference down the road. I'm hoping my son will enjoy this enough that we can spend time together working on and playing with our Revo.

It's easy. Your the dad. He's the kid. Force him. With Corey, I pulled the cig out of his mouth and the needle out from under his toenail and told him either he has fun with this or I break his little arm. Simple!

I like that approach, we were forced to enjoy crap as kids weren't we? I see no reason to break a family tradition. My son is still pretty young, he'll be 9 this summer so I figure I got a few years before he's 'too cool' to do crap with his old man.
