picco .21,22t cb,65t spur,FOC 2.5 tranny, MIP CVDs, and stock savage X rims and tires. dont know if any of this helps

edit: i checked the rear diff, and the tranny for any binding but everything spins freely

Hows your slipper clutch. plastic gears can be surprisingly strong if you have a perfect mesh and sometimes they won't be the first thing to break. can you tell us when it breaks? is it going off jumps or just driving around in circles?

I had a big block converted maxx that I ran an aluminum trans case with RRP steel gears throughout with RCS 1/8 pitch spur and OFNA 1/8 CB/shoes/flywheel. All my power was finding it's way to the ground. I ran that thing for more than a year and never sheared that axle. I did snap the shaft the two speed spins on once. I had very minimal slip in the slipper since it was steel to steel (no pegs or pads).

Diffs... that's a different story. I burned up diffs about every other gallon of use. Also aluminum housing and cup.

I wonder what yours is doing...

What kind of truck was yours originally? If it was the 2.5 maxx, they have the old shafts that were built to take the 2.5's power. The new shafts that Traxxas made for the 3.3 should hold up to the power, or you could go with some other big block handling cvd's.

you get a perfect chance to upgrade.. I have the p2 .21 midblock and it started out as a 2.5. 3.3 upgrades or even as much metal as possible, that is what I am having to do. But to upgrade the shafts you need to get rid of the black long tranny and get the ggray shor one.

well i was stripping 2 speed gears in the tranny pretty often, at least once a weekend, and the spur is a rrp steel with the dual slipper disks. i had it adjusted to tight and backed off 1/4 turn. i have destroyed and rebuild both diffs in the last week or two.
on the bright side i have always managed to find the cvd after the tranny shaft would break.

i use mine for bashing in the field at the end of the street. small jumps and a lot of speeding through disked up fields.

but i recently upgraded to a t-maxx/revo 3.3 tranny with foc and havent had any trouble with it since.
